    I'm in the middle of TPM and noticed a few things about the captain:

    "They're too many of them."
    "This is a battle I do not think that we can win."
    "We have no army!"
    "We'll be sitting ducks!"

    How the heck did this guy become head of Padme's security?

    Even 3P0 would say "Dude, have some faith!"

    No wonder he was replaced by Typho!

    I don't think he was replaced. Remember he was the Queen's security at the time. In AOTC Padme is demoted to senator so that is why I think we see Typho instead.

    He wasn't replaced by Typho. At the time of AOTC, Panaka was stil the Queen's personal bodyguard. But Padme wasn't the Queen anymore.

    Slimy!

    Ha! Agreed.

    I think in his experience he was not used to chaos. Probably spent his entire life on quiet Naboo with little to worry about. Then his planet is invaded and he is off in a starship, jumping planets, and running around like crazy. He always seemed unsure what to do or say. Funny, the 14 yr old queen stayed calm. Probably helped him stay calm as well at times.

    "You can't take her royal highness there! The Hutts are gangsters!" hehe

    He's obviously not the kind of guy that would take a bullet (or blaster shot) for the Queen.

    Well between ATOC and TPM Panaka returned to his home planet where he shared a "Boom Boom" with Christopher Lambert and then proceeded to have his head cut off by The Kurgen. Nobody would have suspected that Panaka was actually a space travelling immortal.

    Sounds alot like 3P0's experience...only 3P0 handeled it much better and he's just an equitte droid. Panaka is so called head of security (for a Queen mind you) and shows no type of authority or confidence for such tense situations. It's embarrasing really.

    I'm surprised he didn't say,

    "I hate this damn job, I didn't ask for this ****!"

    Or when Obi and Qui-Gon meet Maul,

    "Those guys are ****ing dead!"

    Or when Anakin hides in the cockpit,

    "You're gonna get your ass blown off kid!"

    "Yes, your highness, I brought reinforcements. But forget it. We're all gonna die."

    [image=http://www.sgtfretsurfer.com/Grilled-Sarlacc/normal_jpanaka003.jpg]

    "Here, take the Handmaiden. But I don't know why you insist on going to town. You won't come back in one piece. Later."[hr]
    [image=http://www.sgtfretsurfer.com/Grilled-Sarlacc/normal_jpanaka005.jpg]

    "Yes, I am here with one of the Jedi who took us away from home. By the way, come get me!"[hr]
    [image=http://www.sgtfretsurfer.com/Grilled-Sarlacc/normal_jpanaka006.jpg]

    "It appears there are a lot of droids. And their army is much stronger than ours, and much cooler. I didn't want to die like this, but whatever."[hr]

    "Of course, your highness, I am pointing my blaster at people. Now can we please go home now and stop all of this?"

    G_S strikes back!

    PADME: We don't have time for this, Captain.

    PANAKA: Then sign the damn treaty, witch! We're gonna get our asses blown off!

    Panaka was evil! He was part of Palpatine's inner circle. He was a MOFF in the days of the Empire. This is all true, I have read it. In ROTS: The Visual Dictionary it says Panaka gave Palpatine the info on Anakin and Padme's marrige and probably pregnancy. In The Classic Trilogy: Incredible Locations there is a mention of a statue in Palpatine's chambers on the DSII being a gift from MOFF PANAKA!!!!! I know, I can't believe it either.

    Plus, Panaka didn't have that cool eye-patch that Typho had.

    Someone needs to photoshop Panaka's head onto Moff Jerjerrod's body to make "Moff Panaka" offical.

    QUI-GON: Your Highness, with your permission we're heading for a remote planet called Tatooine. It is a system far beyond the reach of the Trade Federation.

    PANAKA: I do not agree with the Jedi on this.

    QUI-GON: You must trust my judgement.

    PANAKA: The only thing I trust is that we're gonna get our asses shot off!

    -----------------------------

    OBI-WAN: This storm will slow them down.

    PANAKA: Looks pretty bad. We'll get our asses blown to Coruscant if we're lucky.

    -----------------------

    QUI-GON: No more commands from Her Highness today, Captain. This spaceport is not going to be pleasant...

    PANAKA: The Queen wishes it. She is curious about this planet. I guess she's also curious about what it feels like to get your ass handed to you by a bunch of gangstas and made to sit on the nuts of a hut in a golden bikini. I swear! Christ, I hate this job...

    Some great commentary here but he was doing his job, which was keeping the queen out of harms way. Personally, I would have grabbed the biggest firearm in sight and gome to town on the droid army.

    I bet Panaka is the one who let Maul know that Padme was on Tatooine. Wow, the hole just gets deeper for that traitorious piece of slimy worm ridden filth.
