Ok, so the mandate was capture Dooku, then later Sidious.

    What happens then ??

I know it's a fictional tale and all, and I shouldn't read to far into it - "until the possible becomes the actual, it's only a distraction"

But honestly, did they have some sort of chamber like in the movie Sky High, which would nullify their powers ?

Were they just going to suspend them in a ray shield (like in AOTC) until trial ?

If found guilty, then what ? Permanent ray shield ??

I just wonder, because capturing a dark lord of the Sith is hard enough. I would think keeping one held captive would be far more difficult ???

    Thoughts ??

I think they would have put him in the plastic cell next to Magneto.

Yeah, I have wondered for a split second what they would exactly do with them. Have they held Sith lords prisoner before?

No no no! They would have used that floating mirror/prism thingy from Superman I and II.

If it's good enough for General Zod...

    [face_thinking]

...waitaminute! It wasn't good enough for Zod, was it?

    Nevermind.[face_blush]

How do you think they'd have kept Grievous captive had they caught him? Or would they have just offed him instead? Could they even take him alive?

I imagine they'd bonk Dooku on the head with a mallet and let him sleep it off until his trial.

Yoda seems to think that killing the Sith is the mandate. "Destroy the Sith, we must."

If they had captured them successfully, it seems they would probably get the death sentence on AT LEAST twelve systems. ;)

yoshifett, I think it's interesting that Yoda uses words like 'destroy' when it seems pretty clear (at least in this case) that he means 'kill'.

I mean, why 'go kill your best friend' when you can simply 'neutralize the target'.

It reminds me of the OT, where Luke is being told he must 'confront' Vader and his Emperor, which a lot of people interpret as 'kill'(although I don't.)

Why can't Yoda be more precise?

I mean, suppose Obi Wan reported back to Yoda that he had 'killed' Anakin and Yoda's response was "Who said 'kill'?"

This is a can of worms for other threads, but when Luke says
he can't kill his own father, Ben says then the emperor has already won.

    The implication (I'm making) being...

...that Ben doesn't literally mean it. He's manipulated Luke this far. Why stop now?;)

    edit:

Let me clarify. I don't believe Ben is literally saying 'Luke, you must kill your father.'

Another interpretation could be 'You must be prepared and willing to kill your father if it comes to that.'

Ok, but define for me what "if it comes to it" means?

What's the line in the sand?

Yoda's diagnosis about succuming to the darkside has
    no equivocation.
Anakin is gone, consumed by Vader...
Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate...

And Yoda's prognosis about the Sith leaves little room
    room for doubt:
    destroy the sith we must.
Not reform, not exile, not arrest, not counsel.

Sure, it's pretty clear that in the case of Obi Wan, Yoda means 'kill'.

So why dance around the word 'kill'?

Now you've got me wondering what Anakin's fate would have been if he TRIED to turn back on Mustafar?

Was it really an option (at that point)?

I think he had the opportunity to do so, but instead, confessed
    his hatred for Obi Wan.

In the Jedi Temple they have a couple of chambers from the Sith wars were they would hold Sith untill they decided on what to do with them.

Random Jedi - "How do you think they'd have kept Grievous captive had they caught him? Or would they have just offed him instead? Could they even take him alive? "

I presume you are being sarcastic, but Greivous without blasters or sabers = powerless in a cell strong enough to withstand his physical strength.

A sith, on the other hand, what their electric fingers and mind tricks and extreme power in the force, are a different story altogether.
