ST Caretakers of Ahch-to

Certainly looks like the same species. Rian Johnson says all the caretakers are females. Looks like the males are not religiously devout and prefer to hang out in casinos.

 

These must be the creatures that require Rey to fight the sea monster to prove herself.

I wonder why they are not happy about Luke being there. They could give Luke a ton of chores to do with those Jedi powers. I'm guessing Luke must be really bad at fixing pipes. He is no Smith to the "Lilies of the Field". If Luke is just a annoyance, then he must cause more problems than he helps to solve. The question is why isn't he helping the nuns out since they live near by? Blowing up the occasional hunt, isn't that bad if he repairs them and does extra work to make up for it. I think there might be something wrong with him and he can't really control his powers much anymore. Could he have some equivalent of Force-Cancer? Maybe they just have a conflict of interest?

I think nuns are the ones that fight with sticks. I can see the nuns trying to attack Kylo and Rey with sticks. My guess is they fight Rey until she agrees to fight the sea monster. Later on, they fight Kylo for messing up their Island.

 

I'm really digging all of these groups of Force adherents that we've been seeing in the ST era and R1: Church of the Force on Jakku, Guardians of the Whills on Jedha, and now these creatures.

 

I'm going out on a limb and say they don't like Luke because he is a Jedi and they are so old school that they don't recognize the Jedi or the Sith. They study and adhere to the force in a purer way (that I can't imagine myself, hence, the horrible attempt at articulating). And they shun anyone who "takes a side" or declares one side superior to the other.

Even if he no longer considers himself a Jedi, they may still think that Luke is tied to the wrong belief system and unable to comprehend the 'real' force.

These nuns are only female right? so there are no males on Ahch-to, hmmm...then either they are very very old (thousands of years) or they can procreate without males

 

I don't think that ALL the females are nuns. Its probably only a small portion of their population- just like it is with humans.

 

They seem to be sticking mostly to a similar, simple look for the aliens of the ST so far. I would like to see them come up with more unique, and bizarre aliens; like the ones from the cantina in ANH.

I think that the issue of fish-nun procreation is probably not addressed in the movie.

Maybe they are really old.
Maybe they rise out of the sea to perform this special task. A rare few who feel a special bond with The Force.

 

I am pretty sure that those reptil nuns are the ones that Rian had to include because of Colins request.

In Episode 9 Colin will reveal that Luke had an interracial love affair with one of these nuns and they are currently breeding a human-reptile hybrid force egg.

Colin will reveal that a son of Luke Skywalker emerged out of the egg on Ahch-To named:



Indominus Skywalker!

 

But the Jedi symbol is around that island. I think they will just be shown to be grumpy creatures and they don't actually mind Luke being there despite their attitudes.

 

It could be an ancient symbol adopted by force users, some of which evolved into the Jedi. The meaning of symbols can be altered over time. Like various pagan symbols were after the arrival of Christianity in Europe.

Or the frog nuns thinks the current Jedi are heretics and have perverted the original ways of the Jedi.

I'm not saying this is the case. I'm just looking for reasons they'd be bothered by Luke that could also indicate a potential storyline.

They may be just creatures of habit. (Being nuns)
They have their daily rituals, and Luke is in the way.

 

Something new and weird always gets my tick of approval.

 

Wonder if any of the "nuns" had a conversation with Yoda........hhmmmmm

 

I think this is how the nuns are going to turn out.

 

Maybe they no the dark side is growing And needs Luke the Last Jedi but he refuses to leave and stay there and feel sorry for him self .

 

Nobody talks about the necklace of one of them? Could be nothing but given that necklaces are very popular in TLJ ... Luke carries one (red krystal kyber?).

 

So they're 'nuns'...what do they worship if it's not the Force on an island that legend says has the first Jedi Temple? May be they feel that Luke's presence will bring trouble to their peaceful lives?

 

Unless the males look very different than the females (possible), I don't think these are the same species.
