I agree. The nuns are more tortoise, while the gents are more turtle.

 

They're going to have high screechy voices and be voiced by Michael Palin and Eric Idle. They'll also complain about there being exploding porgs on their television set.

 

Not a fan. They look very 80s...In a bad way. Like a Labyrinth reject.

 

I think the outfits do them no favours either...

Why are we Debbie downers? Because these terrible Labarynth rejects do nothing for us? Our opinion on that is very valid, but hopefully they won't be in the movie much. They look real bad! If CGI was ever needed it's here!

 

I still love m though, all of these new creatures. IMHO Neal Scanlan and his team really outdone themselves

 

Looks like the nuns do have those sticks. More evidence that they will be the ones that will train with Rey. maybe that is why they are trying to hit her light saber.

 

I love muppet like characters also!! Some of the best muppet like designs are the ones that take me back to the OT the most...Bob anyone? I think it's just their clothing... I'm a huge fan of Labyrinth/Neverending story etc

I will probably get used to them and who knows...maybe even end up loving them?? I must say - I love the idea of Luke being on an island inhabited by all kinds of weird and whacky creatures!

Agreed. One of the best things about the classic trilogy is that the creatures were out there. I am thinking of the more outlandish ones like the Sarlacc, the Rancor, the Asteroid Slug, the Dianoga.

Did you not watch the TLJ BTS reel? There are some very freakish aliens displayed there, including a massive insect at the casino. I expect Canto Bight will scratch the OT "grotesque alien" itch.

Wait. You're a huge fan of Labyrinth and Neverending Story, but that makes you dislike the nun designs? I'm confused.

Anyway, to each their own. I love these guys but it's all subjective. But let's not declare that TLJ has terrible aliens until we see the whole film.

 

I admit, I find them the least exciting of the aliens/creatures we've been introduced to, but we haven't seen all of them yet (outside of a drawing) and we haven't seen how they act/move/speak or anything. So I'm pretty confident they'll be fine. Great, even. Not my favorite (I'm betting that'll be the Porgs or the Shameless, Chillin' Sea Monsters), but fine.

I like the turtle nuns. Nice little bit of muppety action for this new trilogy. Same as the originals.

Maybe the huts where the nuns live on Ahch-To are similar, it is from the concept art of TFA

 

Amazing concept art. Frankly wish they'd gone that direction with Maz (though with a different face). A much richer, more layered, and less cartoony look.

 

Sloth dude/ette? in the middle has the right idea - catching some zzzz's.

As far as our reptilian sisters, there, I suppose webbed feet are good for navigate Ach-To's terrain and swimming.

 

From that glimpse we got in the BTS reel it seems the interior of the huts are the same as the outside.

 

Could be. Though it's possible that the interiors are shot in studio.

 

Nice. Perhaps this is reminiscent of what Rían was referring to when they were designing the interiors in Ahch-to. Looks like the art could look a bit more faded in order to give it more of an ancient feel. Which goes with what Johnson said.
