Lit Carrie Fisher has passed away

I don't know if this is the place to post it or not but I think it should. RIP Carrie you will be missed.

It's already been posted in a few other threads throughout the forum. She certainly will be missed.

You will be missed by people who knew you, loved you, and who never met you.

 

You never truly expect your icons to pass away. And yet they do... It's weird. Heartbreaking... and weird.

 

Such a thread is at its place, I agree.

She did so very much for so many people. We never really know what impact we'll leave behind ... but we will remember hers, and the good she did.

 

I was shocked when I got the text. I literally let out a bit of a whelp. I didn't expect this.

It makes the fact that Leia appeared as the final shot in Rogue one just a bit more poignant.

 

So immensely cheesed off by this development.

So very sad.

 

Yep, that will be a sentiment many of us agree with.

It means CGI Leia. And killing off her character because she has to be CGI is in my opinion, not right.

When I first read the headline I immediately thought it was some distasteful fake news. But sadly, it's not...

I am in tears today at the passing of the first on-screen beauty crush of my life.

Her advocacy for those with mental issues/illnesses was an inspiration for me in dealing with my clinical depression.

If there was any thought to removing Princess Leia's song from my edits to the Holiday Special, they are gone now. I just couldn't bring myself to do that.

RIP - Carrie Fisher. Be one with the Force and bring light into our lives through it.

 

Was just playing TOR when someone put it in the comments. This is so sad, R.I.P Carrie you did good.

 

I would like to share this post by angelica-church on Tumblr -- it was written several days ago, after Carrie's heart attack but before her death, but still sums up how I feel right now and what Carrie meant to me, and is stated much more eloquently than I can manage at the moment.

Thank you Carrie for being a part of both my childhood and adulthood and for speaking so candidly on issues that affect me like mental illness and body image; it greatly comforted me. I wish I could offer more than my thoughts, but they are with Carrie's family and friends at this time.

 

Sad, sad news. Though I'm not surprised after hearing the news about her condition a few days, but I was hoping she might recover, but... alas.

Rest in peace, she will be missed. Sad way to end the year.

Goodbye Princess, RIP....

When we see her again on the big screen next December it is going to be a special remembrance.

 

So sad. I feel silly in a way because I didn't know her in any way.

But in another way I grew up watching her, so she played an intimate part of my life. I grew up watching Star Wars on projector before there was VHS.

She was young too. Not old by any means.

 

I wrote this elsewhere, but...

...I'm so, so grateful she got to be in one where Luke Skywalker is a girl, and stick her face in one where Han Solo is a girl, too, for good measure.

We loved her.
She knew.

 

I can't believe she drowned in moonlight, strangled by her own bra. What a way to go.
