Jedijax, I agree it will seem impossible. And obviously it won't be a full fledged performance. I think everything is being combed through, all shots, all sounds and catalogued. The script will be written with it in mind and trying to keep the original intent as closely as possible, and then what can be accomplished with stand-ins for the wide establishing shots, etc.

I don't think Leia was going to die in episode eight... Or nine. And by changing it would seem to be a downer if they kill the beloved character after the beloved actress passed in real life. I think they'll want to celebrate her the best they can... Or else it kinda takes the viewer out if the film by reminding them of an outside sad event. I think Episode Eight will remain intact, or else some of her material will be saved for Nine with some manipulation. I know it seems impossible, but my gut tells me we'll see Fisher in both Eight and Nine.

I said I'm open to this as long as Luke gets his reputation restored (after running away and doing nothing for years). I mean that I'm just 100% against Luke being killed off already in TLJ. If he is killed in IX, I won't be that happy either, but so be it if they cannot come up with a better story. My preferred send off for Luke would be simply X, after he had time to rebuild the Jedi together with Rey. It would be a fitting resolution for him and no bitter ending.

But the more the security is tightened from LFL, the more I believe they just try to hide Luke being killed off in TLJ. They want to avoid negative fan reactions before the movie is out.

 

A simpler explanation: they just want people to enjoy the movies without all the surprises ruined. When spoilers get out, people who don't want to be spoiled are more likely to be spoiled inadvertently.

 

I just thought for sure I'd misread.

I've said it time and again, I prepared myself for all of the OT3 to be dead by the close of IX. It's the Star Wars way.

But with Han's onscreen death, and Carrie's real one, I think we need Luke to exit this trilogy alive and well.

 

Which is why I left this site the minute the Rogue One review embargo was lifted, and didn't come back until after I saw the movie.

Who are you kidding? Tightened security can only mean one thing: Luke definitely dies. I mean, any time there is tight security on a movie set it's because Mark Hamill's character is going to die. There's no other explanation for tight security. Not one.

 

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't LucasFilm conceal the "Vader is Luke's father" twist by leaking out fake information involving Obi-Wan?

I've always thought that, had they gave the lightsaber to Leia, Palpatine would be dead by the second act of ANH. But then, we wouldn't have had the OT.

 

I'd like to see Luke and Leia using lightsabers and fighting against the dark side together

 

I wonder if Leia will have the last line in this film, just like TFA and R1.
