I read the young Leia book yesterday and Bloodline today. Definitely recommend this order.

The the Young Leia Novel flows quite well into the Bloodline Novel, at least for me it does.

It definitely fits perfectly into the Star Wars universe that already existed, I haven't finished it yet but I am close, and I think Claudia Gray is my favorite author so far of the new "star wars novel" universe, she gets the characterizations perfect.

Seems like they're still doing ADR. Hopefully they finish up the movie before Johnson heads to Japan.

A special fan event. I guess it's kind of like when Ridley and Kennedy went to Japan after Celebration 2015.

Colin Trevorrow is no longer directing Ep. IX.

I wonder how that will affect the Leia situation.

I'd rather have Rian Johnson directing it. Of course I still have to see TLJ first, but I trust him to deal with this situation with utmost respect to the legacies of both Carrie Fisher and Leia Organa.

The idea of a Leia-centric Episode IX seems to be coming from KK/Lucasfilm/Disney, not specifically Colin.

I agree MattOrgana. Rian has said tender things about Carrie and her talents, and that's enough for me to trust him with Leia's Legacy in IX.

KK will be involved no matter who's at the helm, and that's also a comfort.

I know. I'm thinking more about how that might affect their plans of how to deal with Leia after Carrie's passing. I wonder if the use of unused footage from TFA and TLJ and some CGI are back on the table (not that I think Lucasfilm has ever completely ruled out those possibilities).

Exactly. If everything the cast and crew have been saying about Carrie's role, and how Leia shines in TLJ is true, there's no one I trust more than Rian Johnson to deal with the future of my favorite character.

I just hope they won't bring Abrams back. TFA is a great movie, I love it, but Abrams didn't really get Leia, and wasn't the right director to deal with Carrie's insecurity (she was her worst critic). Rian, on the other hand, he even asked for Carrie's help with the script.

Absolutely. It's difficult to explain, but I get the vibe that Rian and Carrie were a good team, moreso than Abrams and Carrie. All things pending TLJ, I hope it's true!

I wonder if one of the main issues Kennedy and Trevorrow had was how to handle Leia? I'm sad to say but Carrie Fisher's (and Leia's) death has totally killed my excitement for IX and to a lesser extent for VIII as well.

I too wonder if Leia's treatment was the disagreement that led to the breakup. Hypothetically, maybe Colin wanted to recast Leia or use CGI, ideas which KK has seemed to openly disagree with.

And you're not alone in your feelings on IX, especially in this thread. I'm heartbroken we won't see the Leia-centric episode they originally planned, and I'm prepared for an inferior film because of Carrie's passing; but that's not anyone's fault.

No Leia in high heels escaping a Ranchor....

Honestly, I think LF has a big problem with the storyline in Episode 8 and Carrie passing away. Lets see after we saw Episode 8 where the storyline ends for Leia.
Maybe 8 will give her an important part as a start for Ep9 (Kylo-Leia-Luke-Rey relation cliffhanger or similar) that is simply crucial for the entire story of the ST.
Without touching episode 8 I think it might be very tricky now for any writer/director to get a "deeply profoundly satisfying" storyline for the audience.
I expect the movie to be delayed at least to Dec. 2019 - no matter who will do or write Ep9
