Karka Dza?ki
Conference Room 11

Karka listened as they discussed possible ways to arrange cabins. He?d known that hacking their network was a long shot, but he still thought it had a better chance than relying on MI5 funds. Still, I?d rather stick with the crowd than try to go solo.
People kept throwing ideas around until Markus threw out a fairly coherent plan. ?I agree with Agent Carfax on this one, we bid and get what we can. If we can get three rooms then I think we?re doing fairly well. Like Carfax said, Ruana Trebond and Joss Vendu act like honeymooners, Agent Kannat goes solo as a business man, and the rest of us stick together either as a bunch of tourist or perhaps as the entourage of a wealthy business tycoon, played convincingly by Agent Girange here. If we go with those groups then I think that only Agent Girange and whoever is in the entourage should attend. The rest should get their tickets via the electronic bidding.

Boz nodded. It looked like they were finally getting somewhere.
"I agree." He said, nodding at Karka approvingly. He shifted his shoulders slightly and adopted a high-born Alderaanian accent. "I am sure that as long as we get at least three cabins, we could get by on two though if need be, and if we are all able to maintain our stories, we will be able to operate without rousing suspicion."
He switched effortlessly back to his normal voice.
"But once we have decided how we are going to get these cabins we will have to talk about how we are going to carry out operations."

Mny'Karedito looked up, causing her visor to once again start to slide out of place.

"It's not going to be quite that forgiving..."

She pushed it back up with one hand.

"However many groups you divide yourselves into determines how many cabins you have to win. Once a cabin is won via auction, it's registered under the winner's name. The winner must then register the remaining members of his party. Just so we're clear, you won't really have the ability to change your plans after you find out the results of the auction. If you don't manage to win enough cabins, some of you will have to remain behind. So before this evening you'd better know exactly who's traveling in which group, how you plan on dividing yourselves up into cabins and what identities you'll be traveling under.

Excluding the droid, there are eight passengers for this ship. If these two"

She pointed to Joss and Ruana.

"are playing newlyweds, then that means that there are six of you. Now, if I'm reading this correctly, the smallest staterooms are designed to sleep two comfortably, though some have the space for one or two more. There are larger ones which can handle bigger groups such as four or six with room for a few more. It seems as though the auctions are assuming standard occupancy, with a lesser rate per person beyond that to cover the basic expenses such as meals and transportation. So figure out exactly how you'll divide yourselves up."

IC:

"Sorry, sir," Hal said upon seeing M, as he suddenly rushed in into the Mi5 conference room. His superior at the Republic Intelligence Branch had already told him of this new Mi5 operation the day before, but he has to finish his reports first for the office so he got himself late for this meeting.
He look around and saw familiar faces as well as new ones. he recognized Joss Vendu and Ruana Trebond, there's also the Ubese Halon, and the computer genius Markus Carfax. It was about three years since he last saw these people; three years had gone past since his last operation with the Mi5. He look at the datapad and read the recorded minutes of the meeting. It seems like the group has already nearing the point of finising their discussion, and had already come up with a plan to infiltrate the cruiser.

Mny'Karedito sighed.

"We're on a deadline here agents, the auction is tonight. The sooner you sort yourselves out, the sooner we can begin forging the necessary identification and travel papers and the more effective your cover stories will be. And I really recommend you appoint yourselves a leader, someone should probably be take the initiative here..."

Time was ticking away and Markus was getting increasingly irritable, if that was even possible.

"Alright, so.... whoever you are" he waved in the Lorrdian's direction, "Can attend the fancy publicity auction, along with Ruana and Joss, and bid for cabins that way, and I and the other slicers bid for cabins electronically. We'll maximise our chances of actually getting a cabin then, and if us stay-at-homes get one we can claim to be friends of the live auction-goers, and register on their behalf. All bidders will stay in contact via comlink in their assumed identites, so we're gonna need to work that out now."

The hacker looked around at the assembled agents.

"We'll meet up again after the auction to redraft our game plan as needed. How does that sound?"

Joss chuckled as he took Ruana's hand. They had kept quiet so far until he whispered to her, "It seems we have another Honeymoon every time we go under any kind of cover."

So they finally had a plan at last.

He raised his voice so he could be heard by everyone in the discussion, "Since outbidding anyone isn't a likely plan of action, do we have any information on our potential competition for the Empress tickets?"

"Because I think we should make sure the highest rollers aren't able to make it to the auction while making sure a link can not be established back to MI5."

"Because I think we should make sure the highest rollers aren't able to make it to the auction while making sure a link can not be established back to MI5,"
Joss said.

The crippled Sullustan looked at the human, <With the Slicer's help, and a detailed list of the high rollers, I'm sure I could arrange a distraction,> he glared at his droid, <A nonlethal distraction.>

"Or," Dub-Three countered, "We could create a very lethal diversion, such as a false droid rebellion. How could that possibly be linked to MI5? We're not revolutionaries."

<I believe minimizing casualties is part of the goal. Perhaps a small one, since these aristocrats would likely have trusted serving droids. A hostage sitation that allows several anonymous parties leeway to purchase tickets. As long as no one on the mission blew their cover, no one would have to know of MI5 involvement until after the day is saved. I doubt a simple equipment failure -except perhaps of their vehicles and comms- could effectively stop them from outbidding us. Unless maybe there were enough widespread inconvenience to cost them enough to not buy their tickets, but that could get rather hectic without a very great allowance of time.>

"Perhaps a few staged assassination attempts to scare them back into their mansions and away from fancy holidays? A droid could commit the acts and suffer an immediate memory wipe to erase evidence. Plus, a droid is so precise that the odds of accidentally killing the mark are roughly two hundred seventeen thousand thirty to one."

Plus, a droid is so precise that the odds of accidentally killing the mark are roughly two hundred seventeen thousand thirty to one."

"Erm..." Joss mumbled in surprise at the Droid's homicidal inclinations. "I was thinking more along the lines of Non Lethal measures Dub-Three."

"Like messing with a Limo Droid's piloting programming so they drive our competition safely in the wrong direction of the auction or freezing of certain People's assets due to clerical errors in the banking system. We should vary our methods to keep from attracting unwanted attention."

"Usually these rich types don't carry their credits on them, so interference with wireless transactions would work there if anyone does indeed outbid us. A simple signal over the comm and their transaction comes up as in error and the tickets would fall to us."

"The slicing shouldn't be a problem for Carfax and anyone else on the job. Does that jump plot with everyone else?"

"That is where I come," Jacen said. "I can get their limos so lost, it will take them a week to get back." Halon stood there silent, momentarily stunned. He was still reeling from W-3PO's latest outrage, this one calling for a deadly droid insurrection. Evidently the Sullustan cyborg still had a lot of work to do...

Hearing Agent Vendu's slightly more sensible plan brought him back from his shock.

"Does that jump plot with everyone else?"

"Excellent idea, Joss. For my own part," he began, placing a palm against his chest as he spoke, "I expect I shall be playing the role of humble bodyguard to one or more of you for the duration of this voyage. My presence at this evening's auction will not be required, which leaves me free to assist in some of our sabotage operations. But we still need to try and acquire some auction tickets first."

"How does one get their hands on said tickets? Over the holonet?"

Maybe they don't take me seriously enough, thought Stent. Time to drop the silly diplomat act.

"Like I said," - Stent spoke up, this time not with the air of a learned diplomat but that of a common human/Zeltron, and his words and body language also changed to reflect this - "I have contacts that might get us tickets. I think I have a shot. Let me take the shot, unless someone thinks it's a total waste of time. I sure don't.

"On top of all this," Stent continued, leaning his arms on the table, something an elite wouldn't do wearing such clothing as Stent was, "first, we go knocking off nobles and elites from the ship, and what if they happen to be the guys we're supposed to be observing in the first place? Second, have we appointed a team lead? I haven't heard anything of the sort, and it's probably a good idea because in my experience not much is accomplished unless someone is leading.

"But that can wait for the moment because we have the more pressing matter of getting into that stupid auction."

Stent leaned back in his chair, and suddenly his demeanor and language returned to that of one from the upper class.

"So, shall I go ahead and begin with my calls in the attempt to obtain tickets?"

"I was thinking more along the lines of Non Lethal measures Dub-Three."

"As was I," the droid replied, "Unless you factor the low odds of a droid failing in the first place, which would call into question precisely how said assassin droid managed to be so incompetent, which may, in turn..."

"That is where I come," Jacen said. "I can get their limos so lost, it will take them a week to get back, and I'm not kidding....or we could take their vehicles out all together. Nothing like an old fashioned breakdown. And I guess I could be one of the entourage, if that is the route we are taking."

<Get me a simple MSE or Astro Droid, and I can do all sorts of damage without anyone thinking it's any more than a simple droid malfunction.>

"First, we go knocking off nobles and elites from the ship, and what if they happen to be the guys we're supposed to be observing in the first place?"

When Stent finished his monologue, Dub-Three retorted, "If we accidentally eliminate one of our marks because they could not buy last-minute tickets, then they are either the sloppiest criminals the Galaxy has ever seen, or they are innocents who may be very lucky not to board the ship. It is a win-win scenario."

Boz really didn't like the droid. Mental note Boz; don't turn your back to that thing. he thought.
Stent's speech and body language showed that he may be getting more than a little annoyed with the way things were being done.
"Of course, make your calls Stent. Anything that means we don't have to inconvinience innocent people is, in my opinion, the best course of action." He considered things, taking in who was round the table and what their skills were.

"But if Stent is unsuccessful then the limo idea should work. Now, I'm not doubting you or yor contacts Stent," He said, holding up his hand before there could be any protest, "but rigging the limos is a good back-up. But we should now arrange who's playing respectable customers tonight and who's in their entourage. I can go in a disguise with Halon as my bodyguard and maybe one or two others for the auction if they can be spared. We can have another group go to the live auction as well, and the slicers will do their thing here with the electronic auction. Now I think as soon as we hear whether we have tickets or not we should move getting to the auction, and rigging the limo service if need be. Does that, uh, "jump plot" with everyone, as it were?" He grinned.
Boz hoped this would be an option that pleased everyone. Stent had said they needed a group leader and, based on the events here, Boz couldn't help but agree.

"As for group leader, we should make a decision there as well. Any nominations?" He asked with hands spread out, inviting.

The group seemed to be working alright. At least, coherent plans were being thrown together, with more detail than 'shoot anything that moves', the traditional MI5 fallback- or at least, it seemed that way sometimes. As soon as the meeting was over, Ruana intended to go socialise with assorted acquaintances, to see if there was anyone who might no longer want to go and had tickets. It was possible; after all, unforeseen circumstances ruined Force-only-knew how many holiday plans across the Galaxy every year.
