"Agreed." he winced slightly as he bit the edge of his tongue, just a little loose, "Besides I didn't drink a paralytic poison last night, or since the start of this trip."

Resealing the bottle he looked at the work that Halon had accomplished, "Nice. At least I'll make it to a medic if you know where to find one on planet, maybe the others know. I would recommend that we do a quality substitute for the weapons we used and make sure to put everything back on our boat before sinking her. Plus lets bring the bottles as a bonus to the pad." His attempts at adding that were probably hindered by his look of consternation as he sorted out his body as it worked through the toxin. A nice feeling, an old feeling, one he had missed since having to go 'dry' for this mission. Something no booze could replace.

Glancing down at his bottle he looked back up at Halon, "Sorry about that. Did you want some?" he asked tapping with a finger the bottle paralytic, "Not the best vintage but definately has a nice tingle going down."

"Did you want some? Not the best vintage but definitely has a nice tingle going down."

Halon's brow raised behind his mask. "A swig of deadly neurotoxin? Thank you, but no, I do believe I will pass."

Had that been any other agent besides Ryn, he thought soberly, they would not even be talking right now.

"If you feel well enough, we can make it back to the Empress and see a med droid there. It will likely be the best way to avoid any unwanted questions. Are you ready to hot wire another yacht now?"

Getting up was painful but he leaned on Halon a bit to ease his standing before taking to the console. "Let's see what tricks or traps this baby has in unlocking her enough to drive."

As he pulled out his lock pick he mumbled, "As for doctors I don't know how to get back on board without being able to explain this or to keep a doctor quiet that I am not what I appear to be. Especially the electonic ones connected to the ships mainframe."

Once again, Salek Zaron had invested in some decent security for his luxury racing yacht, but the system was no match for Ryn. Given that the only other person within kilometers was currently being digested, there was little need to hide evidence of his tampering, allowing Ryn to dig into the control panel at will. There he made a surprising discovery- the ship's silent alarm was active, and had apparently been broadcasting along a certain comm frequency for quite some time...

Disabling it, he quickly rewired the system, bypassing the standard ignition code in favor of a simple start-up sequence. There didn't seem to be any traps or anything that would stop him from activating it and piloting the vessel to wherever he felt they needed to go...

OOGM: Going to need some sort of decision from the other agents aboard the Empress if you're going to set out in search of a restaurant with whatever it is that Hutts eat.

"The first candidates that come to mind are the Starlight Lounge - for it being the high-end and possible location of wealthy crime lords. The second... the Arboretum - a possible location of a hutt trying to feel at home back in the swamp. And the third... there was the seedier cantina. What was it, someone's Liquids?"

"Lars' Liquids." Markus replied, picking up the Spot-On Locator again. It really was such a handy little device. "Of course, if we're looking for Hutts specifically, wouldn't it just be easier to do a Locator search for Hutt restaurants? They're not likely to get live grub at a regular place, after all."

"Wait," the surprised zeltron replied to Markus, "it can do that?" Stent suddenly became animated. "Of course it can! Well, do not just sit there, man! Punch it in! Search! Search for anything and everything that is specific to Hutts, all accommodations that this vessel has made for them!" Stent was literally sitting at the edge of his seat, staring at the Locator in Markus's hand in anticipation of its response. If this little device provides anything, Stent had certainly underestimated it and they would have to put it to more use.

Indeed, there was a search function on the locator. With nothing to really lose, Markus did a search for "Hutt restaurants", and to his surprise, it worked. Well, it was turning up results... a handful of them, at any rate. But with names like the the Hungry Hutt, the Gorg Grill and even the Hutt Hut, his instincts were telling him that these might not be the best place to search for a being with an ear (or biologically equivalent organelle) to the underworld. No, it wasn't his instincts, it was the fact that the Hungry Hutt was billed as "a buffet for galactic appetites" and the Hutt Hut was apparently some sort of confectionery run by a being who apparently had no problem conflating the ideas of "Hutt" and "sweetness". Apparently somewhere along the way his search had gotten into tourist-y family attractions. No self-respecting Hutt would be there. And since your average underworld Hutt was very concerned about self-respect, it was time to try a different approach.

Thinking like a Hutt, he was forced to ask himself... what would a Hutt search for? The answer was obvious- whatever the Hutt wanted. Being somewhat locomotively impaired and prone to drawing attention, a Hutt might be just as well served by sending an aide to fetch a specific meal as it would attending the restaurant in the flesh. What if he tried to find a restaurant that served something unusual that a Hutt might like to eat... something like a... what were they called? Paddy frogs?

He entered the term. This time, a different set of results came up, with only a single suggestion (well, two if he counted the offer of room service). The Chuodana- a restaurant that exclusively catered to those who, in the restaurant's terms "enjoyed the freshest dining possible aboard the Empress of the Stars". This was the sort of restaurant for those who preferred their dinners to be still wriggling as it disappears down their throats.

Strange that it hadn't appeared in his earlier search.

"Doctor-patient privilege?" Halon offered uncertainly after wracking his mind for some sort of solution. He watched Ryn disable Zaron's alarm. Clearly the cur must have had a remote on him to trigger it while underwater.

"We do not need any more trouble here. Lets transfer our flag back to the Crystal Wake and head for the shore."

Markus held up the Locator so that everyone on the room could see the screen, but leaning back a little out of reach. He was a little put out by Stent's earlier enthusiasm. It was unprecedented. Normally everyone was just 'Make the magic box work faster, Markus'. It was refreshing to be appreciated.

"There you go- The Chuodana. Everything that a hungry slug could need."

He turned the Locator around again and brought up a map showing them how to get there.

"Now we just need to think of an excuse to go- I don't know how many of you lot like paddy frogs, but personally I'm not keen."

Leaning back further in the chair, Boz absent mindedly ran a hand through his hair.
"That is the question, isn't it? How to maintain our cover whilst looking into these places. I suppose the simple answer is that we can't."
He stood and went over to where Markus had the results of the search.

What a wonderful piece of technology that locator is, thought Stent as he clapped his hands satisfactorily when Markus showed the results.

His satisfaction quickly turned to slight confusion after Boz suggested going somewhere other than the restaurant.

"Wait a minute, wait a minute," interrupted Stent, shaking his head. "We have plenty of reason to walk into that establishment: our cover. We are trying to find investors, are we not? Customized speeders sounds like something a hutt would do, if you ask me. Alright, so things did not go so smoothly with our lovely companion back on the gaming floor, but I can tell that she is an exceptionally sharp individual. We will have to be on our guard and chose our words wisely, but remember, criminals do like the color of credits, and that is what we are trying to sell."

"Now, we do have another option," Stent continued, his voice more incredulous. "We can change our cover to something more believable and enticing, maybe along the lines of our first one. But, I think we are stuck with it. We already gave Mirana the line. I want to say we can trust her, but of course we cannot. What if she just happens to be working for one of the kajidics?"

Stent sighed. "Why did I even bring that up? We are committed. We should walk right in and make our sale. Now how we change the subject from speeders to criminal syndicates, that may have to be something we work on the fly."

With a plan in mind, Ryn fired up the engines, the vessel humming to life as he began to turn it towards the Crystal Wake behind him. Suddenly, there came a vibrant hiss from the stern, followed by a rippling roar and wrenching metallic screeches as the agents were roughly slammed against the ship's console amidst the clattering of bottles from Zaron's open liquor cabinet.

Behind them, through the smoke and the twisted wreckage that was once the door to the cabin, the agents could dimly see that the aft of the vessel was simply gone, with the ocean surging over the warped remains of the deck as the ship tilted backwards beneath their feet.

OOGM: Zaron's yacht takes 82 points of damage, punching its ticket for a one-way trip on the Davy Jones Express. Halon and Ryn both take 17 points of damage, putting them at 85/124 and 43/90 HP.

Boz shrugged. He'd thought that associating themselves with the hutts would damage their cover. He hadn't thought that hutts would be interested in something like speeders, but if Stent thought that it would work he saw no reason to argue.
"Alright, that's settled then."
He got up from the chair, running a hand over his hair in an attempt to smooth it out.
"If we head down to this hutt establishment we'll have to be careful. Like you said Stent jumping into the subject of organised crime with hutts is going to be neither fun nor easy."

"Well, we'll have to cross that bridge when we come to it." Markus replied, taking one last look at the map before shutting the Locator's display off. "What we need to decide now is when we go- do we wait for the Bloodthirsty Duo to get back and report to us?"

He looked around at the group and sighed.

"Much as I hate to wait for them, what they do out there could impact how we continue with our investigation."

Stent put his face in the palms of his hand after Markus's comment. The two marauders out there, possibly doing the dead man's float out in the ocean.

"Impact," he began, collecting his thoughts. "Impact, yes, if they are successful or not. If they do not succeed in apprehending Zaron, he can easily trace back to us as we are their roommates and obvious accomplices. If we ourselves survive any reprisals, who would want to work with us? Or would rival gangs be invigorated by that fact that a bunch of seemingly nobodies made an attempt on Zaron's life? But if they are successful, that would possibly give us leverage in bargaining with a kajidic. Or it might make them afraid of even getting involved.

"It looks like no matter what happens something can work not in our favor. But if we have Zaron, get whatever information we can get out of him, and we had that leverage - we could get somewhere. I - reluctantly - think we should wait for their return. If they do not come back by the time the ship departs, we know what happened."

Stent looked at his chrono. "How long has it been since they have left us?"

OOGM: Raft? You mean the portable raft that Ryn presumably brought aboard among his armful of stuff and subsequently dropped at the back of the ship? The same back of the ship that's getting a group discount on diving tours?

...I'll refrain from kicking you while you're down.

Shinkai Abyss

By some manner of fortune, the life-raft that they agents had taken from the Crystal Wake was not caught in the explosion containing the rest of their equipment in the stern, but was with them in the command cabin. As the water came pushing up through the opening, Halon quickly pulled the cord and tossed the inflating-vessel through the remains of the door.

The water continued to advance. In a few more seconds, it would flood the open weapons locker. Shortly after that, the downward tilt of the vessel would ensure that the former doorway to the cabin was underwater, necessitating that the agents swim for the surface.
OOGM: To answer Stent's question, it really depends. Assuming Halon and Ryn don't burst into flames, get eaten by a Camray Eel, or get shot, it takes maybe three hours for them to go to the Marina, get aboard the Wake, head out to the Abyss, mess around and head back. It all really depends on how long you guys took for the sabacc game. I'm assuming that between splitting up, wandering around the casino, playing the game and then heading back to base, you guys have used about an hour and a half or so, meaning your actions are roughly co-current with Operation Titanic here. Not that anyone here has a comlink that's capable of calling comm to comm from high orbit to somewhere down on the surface or vice versa. Though if you wanted to use the communications network that involves patching it to the Empress down to a comm center on the planet and then out to their comlinks, you could do that.

OOGM: So, I know Livi has been having connection troubles, and it looks as though sprint and JANGO are on vacation, but I've seen the rest of you online...

Anyways, while I wait to see what Ryn and Halon attempt to salvage from the sinking vessel and what they'll do to get back aboard, here's a few things you might want to do if you're waiting for the other two to get back in one piece:
-Discuss your cover story. Stent says you're committed on the off chance that Mirana works for a kajidic, but if this is the case you still should iron out some details so you don't get blindsided by such fiendishly clever questions as "what are you doing here?" and "why should other people give you money?"
-Discuss what you guys should do in the case of an emergency, such as oh, say... an agent is injured. Given that you pass through a security checkpoint every time you enter or exit the ship, and the fact that the liner staff is concerned with protecting the passengers from harm and the company from lawsuits, there may be some concern if they discover guests returning with blaster burns. If you can't think of anything else, I suppose you could tell them that you fell down some heavily armed stairs.
-Do some information analysis. Take anything you've learned so far and try to see if you can make anything out of it. There's probably some leads and suggestions in there somewhere. At the very least, you might want to map out the factions that you've discovered so far.

Breathing was a bit harder, that was a problem and as he turned back he noticed the ship had just become a lot smaller. Halon was yelling something about weapons as he ran to the emergency raft that had miraculaously been blown into the main cabin.

Eyes wide somewhat he bent down and started chucking the none pointy weapons into the raft even before it had inflated before filling his left arm with what bladed ones he could. Turning he dived to the cabinate and grabbed the two clear bottles and using he pushed against the raft doubled over the edge as he was in an attempt to help Halon get it out into the water before they becamepressed to the cieling under the water.

Stent sighed as he lowered his chrono from his eyes. "No matter. They will return - or they will not. Not knowing the severity of their situation at the moment, I do not think it would be wise to try to contact them at the moment. It has only been a few hours, and it may only interfere with their actions."

The zeltron leaned forward in his chair, not looking at anything particular as he began to ramble off his thoughts to his colleagues.

"So we are stuck with our story, I say. We walk in, we strike up casual conversation. We say that we are businessmen, entrepreneurs, doing a start-up in the landspeeder customization business. We are here to look for investors and for ideas, especially knowing that kajidics have the highest quality in taste, perhaps we can cater to them. And if we get that line that Mirana gave us, 'what is a small scale business doing looking off-world,' first, we are simply making a vacation out of our business search, and second, we have our sights set high. Kajidics love that, those that go for the big credits.

"Maybe we will strike up a good relationship with a kajidic. That would give us quite an advantage, no? But then there is the whole Gir Zaron and the whole Tenloss Criminal Syndicate. Do we just outright say, 'oh, by the way, we were wondering if you would divulge any and all information that you have on Gir Zaron and his Syndicate.' I can imagine that going over splendidly. That would just be wonderful. No, there has to be another way."

Stent silenced himself for a moment, his eyes still staring off into space. He suddenly became animated once again. "Wait, did not the detective say something about a corporation? The - " Stent began to snap his fingers as if that would help him remember. "Rytech! No! Leukish! No! Wait! Both! The Leukish was the governing head of the Tenloss. And Gir Zaron is the head of Rytech Corporation. How come that name is not familiar to me?"

Without another word, Stent rushed over to their computer and began inserting data disks, searching for anything that had to do with the Rytech Corporation and the Empress. There had to be something. For added measure, Stent even threw in "Tenloss" and "Leukish" into his search. Perhaps they were in the news recently.

"Oh," Stent said as he tapped away at the computer, "someone please feel free to chime in..."

After about ten minutes of scanning the datacards provided by MI5, Stent was forced to admit defeat. The information contained within them was everything that MI5 had been able to gather from the public records and news reports regarding the vessel. But despite his initial assumptions, there was nothing within them that showed any connection between the Rytech Corporation and the liner. In fact, he wasn't even sure of what the company did, though there were some reasonable assumptions that could be made.

Nothing could be found related to either the Tenloss Syndicate or the Leukish, but this was nowhere near surprising. If the Tenloss Syndicate had a public record of interaction with the liner this mission would be done before it began, and few people in the galaxy were aware of the nature of the Leukish, let alone what it was called. If Gir Zaron had dealings on this ship, they certainly weren't announced in conjunction with the Empress.

OOGM: Still waiting to see what Halon grabs before I update on their end.
