The secret "Lucasfilm #2" is making a completely different movie where Luke Skywalker, and his partner force ghost Anakin, are the protagonists in an intergalactic buddy cop story, where they have to save Han and Leia's children, Jacen and Jaina. Han, Leia, Lando and Chewbacca join for much of the ride, and both Qui-Gonn's and Obi-Wan's force ghosts pop in during key moments. Occasionally we cut to Luke's Jedi Academy, which is thriving with hundreds of promising students.

I THINK it's safe to add Rosa Salazar to the list. She JUST followed John and Rian back-to-back on Twitter. John and Rian started following her as well. She's also around the age that the rest of the actresses are.

Good find. For what it's worth, she does share some resemblance with a younger Carrie Fisher. Which for the record probably means nothing.

Han used it for a different purpose but Finn apparently will use it in a duel against Ren. It's nothing major, but I just think the first glimpse of the Skywalker Saber being ignited should have been done by Rey, who is supposedly the newest member of the Skywalker Family. I see Finn not as a Jedi but as the gunslinger kind of character. Looks like he will fulfill both roles, I guess.

 

Much to your chagrin I'm sure, I don't see the big deal in whom ignites the lightsaber first to be frank.

Tatiana Maslaney update, she has got a new role in the Boston Marathon Movie but here's the SW bit, so is she out of the running?

Maslany has, however, been in the orbit for two Star Wars movies; she was a finalist for a role in Star Wars: Rogue One and is currently in the mix for Star Wars: Episode VIII, doing chemistry reads as late as this past weekend. It is unclear if the Stronger role takes her out of the running, as scheduling details have not been revealed, but it would appear that way.

This makes no sense. If she was indeed doing chemistry reads as recently as this weekend then odds are she was also in so-called negotiations for "Stronger" when doing so. Maybe she is trying to get both roles. It is all about scheduling. She has enough months in the year to do 3 or 4 films so it all comes down to whether the scheduling of those films get in the way with one another. And even sometimes that is an obstacle that can be overcome. I recall the story of one actor shooting two films at roughly the same time, but one he shot always at night (because the script called for it) and the other he shot almost exclusively in the daytime. Or you can have a scenario in which Movie A is filming from January thru April while Movie B is filming March thru June. If the performer is not THE lead and the filmmakers agree to help the performer out, the director of Movie A can shoot all of her scenes in the months of January, February and if needed March while director of Movie B can wait until April to start filming her scenes.

Hope she's still in the running. She's a great actress, and has an infectious (and Fisher-esque) sense of humor. I always thought that the success of the OT3 rested a lot on just how funny they all were, all three in their own unique ways. I hope that's something the new crop of filmmakers take seriously. Cast actors who can act, but who also have a killer sense of humor.
