    These are the 2 attempts I've made of a Cathar Jedi:

    1st (2008)
    [image=http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb100/furiafelina/P9074281.jpg]

    2nd (2009)
    [image=http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb100/furiafelina/APic0157.jpg]

    I used regular halloween make-up, Scarecrow fangs, a wig and my Jedi costume is based on Mace Windu's colors.
    The claw nails fell off, they were too much trouble to handle the lightsaber and stuffs. My advise: paint your nails as claws.
    And use setting powder on the make-up, you can get it were ever they sell clowns make-up.

    What do you think of it?

    I'm really liking that custom mando in the first pic.... sorry, that was the mando in me appreciating another vod's beskar`gam.

    I actually like your results with the costume. The only thing I could critique on the first pic is the belt. Unless I am wrong, it looks like a regular belt.

    The other pic doesn't reveal much since the cloak is on... but that is a heck of an action pose!

    I can understand the issue with the nails not staying attached for the lightsaber's sake. I thik painting the nails would take away from what you are trying to achieve. I think it would be better to have some sort of cat claw type of prosthetic made for your hands. If it is a one-piece unit you could have the claws/nails all part of said one-piece prosthetic. I thik that would enhance the look of the Cathar.

    Am I making any sense?

    Thanks on the comment of my "Mando-partner" it is a cool costume.
    There are pictures of other costumes he has made on Dented Helmet like the Guard of Gears of Wars; he just won best costume at PR Comic Con with it.

    The belt on the first picture isn't really a belt, it's a piece of heavy duty shower curtain sewed up as a belt, with a buckle, jeje! and the boots are bootcovers made of the same material. I was out of time and money for that one.

    About the claws, you mean like a glove? I was thinking of something like that, and even adding hairs similar to the wig's.

    Thanks for your comment on the pose, I really wanted to look fearsome, worthy of a Cathar.

    This is a front view of the second one:

    Well, I must say that is ingenius use of a shower curtain! I make my own leather belts, but that is when I actually have the money to do it. You made great use of what you had available, that is commendable.

    As for the Cathar hands, yeah I was thinking something along the lines of a prosthetic kind of glove. I think that would work out really well for you. At least that is how I would do it.

    I must say, seeing all this interest in Cathar costumes is starting to inspire me a bit. Of course, I would want to do it up with the fur and such. I imagine it would be just as expensive as a Wookiee or Wampa costume - perhaps I should not let my over active imagination get to the best of me.

    As for your Mando partner... it is a great costume. I am fine-tuning my Mando costume for my application to the Mandalorian Mercs. I could submit with what I've got, but I am not quite satisfied with it just yet.

    I found some references for costuming pieces for some aliens - specifically the Cathar, since that was one of interest here. I thought I would add to the discussion in a positive way and share what I have found.

    Since the Cathar are cat-like, and seemingly more like lions, I found a nice prosthetic lion mask. Of course I know nothing about this product, so if there is someone more knowledgeable in this field, please shed some light on the subject.

    Of course, this looks more like a male's lion face. I haven't found any that are more feminen-looking.

    These aren't specifically cat-like hands, but the claws on these hands do look Cathar-like, in my mind. With some added work, I think these would come off looking great!

    The latex hands look good enough.

    For a more female look, I thing the Cat nose woochie is suitable.

    About the claw nails, here's a link of the ones I try to use: http://www.thingsyouneverknew.com/images/en_US/local/products/detail/p70334.jpg

    If Ihad more time they would've looked purrfect. Then again, there is always next time.

    Yeah, those nails look really good. But as you can relate, sometimes those things break off. The latex glove is a good, viable solution to the problem.

    I've never seen a cat nose woochie.... I'd have to check that out.

    - update- I just did a google search for the cat nose woochie.... very interesting. The woochie might be a cheaper alternative to what I had in mind. It all depends on the costumer's individual preferences, I suppose.

    Found this in my search: http://www.mooncostumes.com/item/6185

    That's the one!

    I have one of those, I'll post a picture so you can see tha actual nose without the make-up.

    I have also seen a "Vincent's face" prosthetic, you know, from the tv series Beauty and the Beast. That one is less a mask than the one you found but bigger that the cat nose alone, because it has the eyebrows.
