Celebration 3... Boston?

Well time for an update. I have finally heard from Mary J. Choueiri, who is the Sales Manager for the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority. Mary is sending me information on the new Convention Center. So maybe we can start to get some hard numbers to put together a proposal to Wizards.

I say lets go for it.Rumor is they are going with Indy again but it doesnt hurt to try and change their minds.

 

I was in Indy and I spoke with some people from Wizards at the Convention. Let's just say they were less than Inmpressed with the staff of the Convention Center.

 

well thats a good thing then.
If they were that unhappy with Indy,they may consider moving it.

 

Even if they do, why would they move it to Boston?

 

Because we rule. And we have an interest in having it here.

 

Okay, but more relistic reasons?

 

The new South Boston Convention Center will have over 500,000 square feet on one level. The Indianapolis Convention Center had less than under 400,000 on muliple levels. That included the RCA Dome which was not used because it cost extra. The Mass Convention Center Authority is having trouble booking events for the new Convention Center and have even booked it for some group at no charge. That may be something that Wizards of the Coast would be interested in. It would also help the Convention Center Authority to have such a high profile event at the new Convention Center.

 

Now those are better reasons.

 

We might actually be able to pull this off. Man, that would be awesome. Is the Celebration a whole week? If so, I'm missing a whole week of school...

 

Well I was having a thought and figured I would share it. I know in Indy they had a concert one night of all the SW music. Now couldn't we also put into the plan that possibly the Pops could do the same. Maybe we could write a letter to John Williams who after all is the musical genius of the beloved movies not to mention has a pretty strong relationship with the BSO. I know they have done free concerts before to get the public involved with music so maybe doing a convention where people basically come from all over would appeal to them.

Now I don't think that Williams would conduct (but you never know until you try) but maybe since Boston has always had a soft spot for him and his music it might be an angle to work to help bring more of the tourist type Boston attractions into play. I think that the planners of the convention might see how well the plan is being thought out to use all aspects of the city. Let me know what you all think and I can start fishing around for addresses.

 

Thats a great idea. I think we should write old Uncle John and see if he could work something out. Thats the ultimate reason to have it here. Without the music, what is SW?

 

A lot of clunky dialogue and mediocre acting, mixed in with cool FX and a classic story of good and evil.

I got the information package from the Convention Authority today. It is impressive, it is going to to such an amazing building.
