After a little bit of talk about it at C9 yesterday, i thought we should have a thread about who wants to go and the organisation e.c.t

As far as we know its going to be held at the L.A Convention center (still not absolutley confirmed) and it (again, not confirmed) will be over the original release date (25th may)


So, who wants to go?

I want to go, the money and travel is slightly more problematic.

 

Well if enough of us really want to go, then we can organise it as a group thing, making travel easier (going with others is always better) and will make certain things cheaper (i hope )

Its more than a year away, so that should be plenty of time to save up.

I REALLY want to go, seeing as its the 30th anniversary of star wars in the city it premiered in on the date it was released.

Yeah, I have a bit of money stashed away as it is, but I'm going on holiday this year, in Croatia, so that'll take out most of my money. Plus I'll be doing my A-Levels when it happens

 

I really want to go to this, too! I am also in need of money to make it happen though. As I'm staying on for another year at college next year, I'll have exams then too...

 

I have a-levels too, but if this year is anything to go by, the exams will be just before the end of may (around the 15th)

 

I'm interested.. Anyone got any ballpark figures? I don't earn much but I do work fulltime.. so a year away may be possible. But it depends on how much.

 

I'm very interested too. I've always wanted to go to an American convention, They know how to do things properly.

However it will also be money dependant for me too. If theres any way I can make this. I'll be there.

I perhaps shouldn't say too much, but I have a bit of insider knowledge and all I will say is that something BIG may happen slightly closer to home

I dunno, you go to all the trouble of getting to a meet and the only people that talk to you are the members of your own chapter and a bloody Dalek !!!

Any idea when it might go on sale?

I might be coming in to some money in October and this seems an obvious way to spend a bit of it. I know it's not confirmed yet but if anyway can hazard a guess based on past experiences it would be appreciated.

8 hours travel roundtrip, and I think I talked so much I woke up next day with a bad throat

After speaking to Jon i now know you were only there for about 15 mins. The daleks were a little too much for your kids.

I assure you if i had seen you i would of said hi.

Hmm, ballpark figures if it is in the US.

Flight £400 - £500 for a return ticket.

Hotel rooms - $149 per night (it would be a five night trip).

Spending money - AS MUCH AS YOU CAN POSSIBLY GET TOGETHER!

With regards to the hotel, the idea is to get as many of us together who are going, book a suite and share the cost between us, thus dramatically reducing the hotel costs to something like $20 - $30 a night instead.

Not sure what this BIG event in the UK might be, but if it ISN'T CIV, then I'm still gonna want to go to CIV, because it is a totally different experience to anything we've had in the UK so far.

 

Ill see how big the UK event is before i make a decision, cause if it is VERY big it will be better for me to go to that and save on flight and hotel costs.

Yes I was rather quiet on Saturday, it comes from having two maoning kids and a wife that's been sat in a car with me for over an hour ! My eldest thinks you're funny though, she wanted to stay with you and Phill when the Daleks were around, must be a beard thing !

Maybe get chance to chat more at the next meet, I think that will be London (that's going to be so hectic), then I am hoping to make the next Birmingham con.

 

Im also hoping to go to this next year so as for now u can say im a possibility for going to this....so im going to star a list...you know the drill guys n gals!
