i sent all the 5 club contacts an email with an update - basically we still need flyer submissions from 3 clubs, and we need banner art.

i put together a half-sheet sized registration form that lists all the pacific region clubs so that people can sign up for their area. it's out for approval.

if anyone wants to see it or any of the other club's flyers, send me a PM and i will email it to you!

    need banner art!

and ventura is submitted! thanks matt!

i've been working on the banner a bit -- so far it is a shot of Luke going to stare at the sunset, but instead of a vaporator in the background, we have: the seattle space needle, the transamerica building, and probably the UCSD library.. would there be some interesting tower-type landmarks that work best for ventura or spokane?

Maybe beneath the sunset, there are waves crashing, like he's at a beach. Just a thought. :)

What about giant potatoes for Idaho.. hehe.. or Darth Tater?

Seriously though, what about a map on part of the banner showing the Pacific and Northwestern states (plus Alaska & Hawaii) that the region covers?

Or how about the Grand Tetons? Although they are in Wyoming, you see them from Idaho. And Wyoming would be in our region too IF they had a chapter there.

i also am working on a map showing the whole region.

i'd be more inclined to include landmarks from idaho, oregon, etc, but i feel that the clubs that are actually decided to become involved in the table should get priority in the artwork.... i'm thinking of adding some waves to the pic...

    back to the map....
i was thinking of putting little markers on the map showing where there is a fan force chapter - any chapter want to have an imperial logo? rebel logo? black sun logo? other logo? if a chapter doesn't specify, i'll just give them whatever looks good and random...

    allrightythen!
i just finished the banner... please PM me if you want to see it, and i can email it to you (it's kinda big)

It is a shot of Luke looking at the binary sunset, with ocean waves in the background, and instead of a vaporator on the right, it has:
the UCSD library - representing the SDSWS
TransAmerica building - representing the SFFF
Spokane Clock Tower - represening the Spokantina
Seattle Space Needle - representing the Mos Everett Cantina (i couldn't find a good Everett landmark :( )
and the Ventura Pier - for VCFF

at the top it says Pacific Region Fan Force
and at the bottom it says
"Nearer to the bright center of the universe!"
brought to you by the San Diego Star Wars Society, Ventura County Fan Force, San Francisco Fan Force, the Mos Everett Cantina & the Spokantina

going to submit it to LFL!

edit: i just finished the map too! shows all six states of the region, with little rebel or imperial logos for each existing chapter, all labeled...

Some of the fan tables are holding raffles for charities etc. Do we want to do something like that or will that be a logistics nightmare with collecting the money etc? Mary Franklin has agreed to pull out the name of the winner for at least one of the other table's raffles, so I am sure she would agree to do ours as well. Any suggestions for what we could raffle off?

mary franklin sent all the fan tables an email today that if we do want to have some sort of charity type thing, she needs to have all the details by midnight tonight. frankly, i don't have the time today to crank this out, so unless someone else wants to lead this up and can get consensus from the group, i think we'll just pass on this.

edit: the deadline isn't actually until midnight on thursday. so if anyone wants to take this on, they get two days instead of one! however, i will be out of town tomorrow, and so if anyone wants to head this up, i can give them the info that Mary sent out, and they can submit it, and cc me.

and finally the last approval has been made - Ventura's flyer is approved!

    hooray!

just a reminder to all the clubs to print out sufficient quantities of the flyer, and provide them (and Everett's charity box) to me on Wednesday night or Thursday morning, so that they will be in the fan club hall at opening on thursday! the contacts have my cell number.

how many club flyers to copy? i dunno... perhaps 200 flyers for each club? if we notice that we are running low, perhaps we will ask people to only take a flyer if they live in the general area of that club...

also, i'm thinking of getting the banner printed on vinyl and be about 2x4 feet, which will cost money (feel free to chip in).. the map i think i will just print on paper, several copies to keep around the table...

as well as printing up the generic sign-up forms (unless everyone wants to take a turn and print out 50 pages and cut them apart (to make 100 registration cards)

what fast turnaround... the banner arrived yesterday and i ran down to the FedEx office today to pick it up.. it looks good!

i never heard back from anybody on splitting up the job of copying the registration cards, so i went ahead and took them to kinko's and had them do it.

i would really appreciate it if each club chipped in a share of the banner and kinko's costs.
the banner was $60 and the registration cards were $18
    = $78.
divide that by 5 clubs is $15.60 - If each of the other four clubs (Ventura, San Francisco, Spokane, Everett) can give $15.60 to me at some point before or during the convention, that would be really really really great.

Don't forget to meet up with me on Wed night / Thursday morning to turn in your club flyers so that we can get them on the table before opening on Thursday.

note: if you are planning on using paypal to send me the money, and you have an unverified account, please add $ 0.75 to offset Paypal's fees.
