As already briefly discussed in this thread, we're planning on a JC meeting somewhere in the summer of 2008.

This thread can be used for further serious planning purposes, picking the dates we should meet and the hotel where we can stay.

    First, the date:

It seems most people are opting for the last weeks of June:[image=http://www.crowwing.com/images/June%202008%20Calendar.jpg]

I think the week of Saturday June 21st till Sunday June 29th would be perfect as we definitely want to avoid the 4th of July peak. But I'd rather hear your thoughts about it too.

    Secondly, the place to stay.

There are a few hotels that are pretty both nicely located on the strip and actually affordable:

    The Excalibur
    Imperial Palace
    Circus Circus
Tropicana (rumored to be closed, nothing official though)

But Im sure there are others, so please, give me your suggestions.

After a while when we got some suggestions, we'll try to come to some sort of agreement when and where we'll meet.

And then...the good times can begin.

EDIT: and please continue to spread the word to everybody, the more JC-ers we can get in, the merrier. [face_mischief]

I like the date you suggested Erwin. June 21st-June 29th would be good are we actually planning an event that long or would we just want to have a long weekend within those dates?

Guys -- you'll have to find someplace else to put this. It doesn't have anything to do with C-IV. Maybe a city forum?

    Just not here.

How about moving the thread to Fan Force Conventions?

What was the point of locking the other thread on this in the C4 forum? It should have just been moved here and then we wouldn't need a new thread. Oh well.

I recently found this site on Vegas-area attractions other than the classic gambling-drinking-going to strip shows triad. There are some very interesting suggestions there like area ghost towns and rafting on the Colorado.

I vote for the Imperial Palace cuz it has the word Imperial.

(Even though it's totally a Chinese theme). :p

Dude, I just assumed JayLo had changed his colors when I skimmed past that message quickly.

Also, your icon looks like fire when examined cursorily. :p

Imperial Palace has a champagne pit. Lollers.

Good thing I've got a handmaiden outfit too. ;)

Though as Gregor says, you don't need to shoot us. Just blow us up in the 2nd movie. :(

Anyways, moving on with the thread. :p

I'd suggest finding a place that has nicely priced rooms AND suites - I'm sure that a bunch of us that already know each other could save money by getting a larger suite and splitting the price, and those that don't can get a room in the same hotel.

I was checking out the Imperial Palace last night. Decently priced and pretty good looking. Caesar's of course has larger suites... but they're really expensive.

My roomie told me that the imperial seriously has some nasty (dirty) rooms...

Bill's Gambling Hall is a better one apparently.

How old do you have to be to rent a car or get a hotel room?

Usually, 18 to get a hotel room.

People over 18 can probably find somewhere to rent a car, but if you're a female under 21, or a male under 25, it'll probably cost you heaps in insurance. It might be cheaper to go carless, and count on shuttles and taxis to and from the airport.

I think some car rental places actually require that you be 21 to rent a vehicle. Might depend on the company, though.

Edit: Also, as Carmen says, mass transit and shuttles should be reliable enough unless you want to make day trips to places like the Grand Canyon or Hoover Dam. But even then, charter buses will usually take you there for a price comparable to what you'd pay for a rental car.

Edit 2: Jenntendo, Carmie, Rachel-who-is-not-moose-Rachel, are you considering a suite?
