We will be starting about 1pm.
Just a reminder...this is one of our biggest events of the year and families are invited. I, myself, will be bringing my 4 year-old with and possibly the girlfriend and her 3 year-old.
and a reminder...
there is a paved path that can be used with bicycles, in-line skates, running....and just walking...
there is also a full playground there...
We have a shelter with 4 in-ground BBQ grills....these are for our 4 Iron Chefs:
Besides having great food and fun with your fellow SW fans, we will also have a fire sale on our official Chicago Force t-shirts that day for the LOW-LOW PRICE OF $5.00 each.
STEEL CAGE MATCH!!!
Inflatable pool J-ELLO match!
If I wasn't going to the roller derby afterwards I'd do that...for you.
First post updated...
and some other information..
Make sure to post what you will be brining in the appropriate thread..
My girl and I will definitely be there and on time this year.
Hey Goat, throw a link to that roller derby up will ya?
[link=http://windycityrollers.com]Windy City Rollers[/link] You want the Fury to kick ass.
I actually won't be able to make it to the BBQ, just putting that out there.
hey whats up, i havent seen everyone in a long time, im gonna make it to Mokena this weekend!!
I still have no idea what kind of chicken to make for the iron (or tinfoil) chef. Just putting that out there.
I knows what I'm makin.
Mine will be cooked by cats not rats.
Weather looks just about perfect for Saturday. Stinks that I won't get there til later. I hate working on Saturdays!!!!
My comment to the above comment is, "No comment!"
After a couple of tries at doing the "chicken pockets" a couple different ways....I found that they all pretty much s*cked...
I grilled everything last night....
and will assemble the pockets as a way to infuse flavor while heating the stuff through..
also will make a few "veggie" pockets..
the grilled zuchini came out pretty awesome...
Absolutely outstanding time today! Great food and even better company!
Thanks to all who came, cooked, and brought stuff....it was REALLY great to see everyone!
I don't get a chance to see a lot of you guys as much as I would like to and the walk that Lionel, Emma, and LilyWan and I took was very pleasant...next year if we have it at Hickory Creek Junction...everyone walks...AND...we will have no "extra people"...
The "extra people" I am speaking of is that "other group" that was at the pavillion thanks to a screw up on the part of the Forest Preserve District of Will County when they issued the permit....I have to take partial blame for it as well....where I did make sure the date was correct...I didn't look at the year...
who knew that on February 20, 2007 I could still reserve a pavillion for July 21, 2006!
I had a great time as well and will post some photos here on Monday.....
and a special request:
Feedback on the tin-foil packets of food requested...
Did the chicken get dry?
Did stuff burn in packets in the re-heat process?
How about the (and I use the term loosely) "Italian" ones with the basil and tomatoes with the chicken...too much basil? too much garlic? tomatoes awful?
I really would appreciate your feedback...
Thanks Phyllis for the bbq set-up. I thought the food was great, even warmed up later since I arrived around 3. As usual, a great turnout with friends and fellow fans.
it was all smoke and mirrors...
I thought the chicken packets were really good and very filling. The chicken didn't get dry at all.
I had the veggie packet and really liked the po-tay-toes (precious). Everything was great even if we did have to share some space, and the pinatas were the best!
looks like it was a fun time. Hopefully I can make it next year.
