Chic, IL CF Book Club - discussion thread

I've been reading StarWars The Essential Chronology and guess what I found? The answer to what happened to the Kaiburr Crystal! It says that when the crystal was removed from the temple & Mimban its power decreased. Luke used it as a teaching aid and experimented with using it in a lightsaber which made the blade very strong.
(No more jump-starts for the battery maybe? lol)

How you can say this book is boring I don't know. Gory, bloody and violent - yes. But not boring. Finish the book this time. I can't wait to discuss it!

Wow, this should be a good discussion. I am of the camp that this book is highly exciting. A real page tuner.
I'm suprised to see people think it's boring.

Great job finding out about the Kaiburr Crystal! I was really curious about how the continuity police had dealt with that. I like their solution.

Shatterpoint. Schaumburg. Woohoo!

 

As of today, I have 40 pages left in Shatterpoint...

(I've read like 150 in the last 4 days or so... It's a real pageturner! )

 

I had to start over only got 30 pages in when we got stupid book assinment on horriable book.

It ruins the book when they make you read it for school.

 

...wait, they're making you read Shatterpoint for school???

No they gave us a book to read I think it would have been ok if we weren't required to read it.

All - One week remains before the next book club meeting... personally, I haven't started it yet. I'll read it next week.

 

Ooooh... You'll like it once you get past the first 90-100 pages or so. After that, it's all action and so cool.

Mmmm, I finished it two nights ago (Friday night)! Awesome book, and I can't wait to talk about it.

 

In my boycott of all things Stover, I'll be ducking out on this session. I'll be back in the book club swing this fall.

Fact: I cannot come on Saturday. I was just called by my work today and told that on Saturday (of the book club) there is a 27-hole tournament there. Usually, I work 18 holes in the morning, and then go in, with plenty of time to spare before the book club. With a long, stretched-out 27 hole tournament, they usually last until somewhere around 4:30 in the afternoon. For one, I don't like working them because they take forever to get done, and two, I'm going to miss the book club about this book that I wanted to discuss oh-so-badly. (I really loved it).

So, I'm not a happy camper.

Anyways, I'm going to be taking a week off from the JC, so hold all my calls ( ) and I'll get back to you all later when I return in a week or so.

Probably on Friday night (before the book club), I'll write up my thoughts on the book and what I was going to say about it at the book club and e-mail it to someone (maybe Dan since he'll be bringing assignments anyways ). I'd love it if that person wouldn't mind to just add what I had to say to the mix.

Anyways, so, I'm really going to miss you guys there ( ), but I'll see all you Black Sun dudes next month for the Kane County toy show thing. (I have something that I just got that I think is a very cool collectible that I'll bring there ).
