Chic, IL CF Book Club - discussion thread

I couldn't make the bookclub, but might be able to participate in the parade instead.

Wait, I didn't say that right. If the bookclub is later, I would not be able to make it. If the bookclub is later, I will participate in the parade. If the bookclub is same time, I would be willing to meet somewhere to watch the parade and then go to bookclub at 1pm.

I think she means that she has to leave at like 2 pm... so if book club is moved to 2 pm or later, she'll do the parade. If book club is left at 1 pm, she'll watch the parade for a bit, then go to book club.

In order to give people a chance to attend the parade and related festivities, I'm going to move book club to 4 p.m. with dinner at Bennigan's at 6 p.m. I'm going to give the bookstore a call. I am sorry you won't be able to make the new time, Carrie.

You could always start the book club at the usual time & run long. Then those at the meeting can look out the window & watch the rest of us walk by. lol

 

I just wanted to say that I had a great time as always. You guys are such a great group to hang out with. I am really bummed that I couldn't go with you to Benningans. Looking forward to your poll Phil.

I have been away from the Book Club for a bit. What is the next book at the B&N in Schaumburg? Hopefully, Liam will be cooperative in attending this time.

send me a pm if you can't find it.....or I am pretty sure the book (all three stories are in one book) is still for sale...or can be ordered at Borders...

 

As I was doing some research tonight for my Civics class, I made an interesting discovery:

The author of our November selections ran for president of the United States in 2000! Yes, L. Neil Smith, author of the Lando "he's not a system, he's a man" Calrissian Adventures, has been a longtime member of the Libertarian Party, and was only the ballot in 2000 (though only in his home state of Arizona). And he may be on the ballot next year too.

OK, I'm certainly not making any type of political statement or endorsement here. I just found it rather curious.

 

I'll be 18 next year. Sign me up for this dude.
