Chic, IL CF Book Club - discussion thread

At last weekend's Summer Picnic, Thom mentioned the idea of seeing Spider-Man 2 after this month's book club. Looking in the Sunday paper, I saw an ad that announced that the film will be opening on IMAX screens this coming weekend. The nearest IMAX theater to Barnes & Noble would be Marcus Addison. There are no showtimes listed on the website so far.

I'm glad that someone at IMAX came to their senses and realized people would rather see Spidey on IMAX rather than Catwoman.

I'm about halfway through the book... reading it at work during my phone down-time.

 

A 3-story Halle is a little scary.


Basically, any woman over 22.3 feet is scary. 'Cept Bea Arthur.

 

Marcus Theatres' website has posted the times for Spider-Man 2 at Addison IMAX on Saturday: 1:00 P.M., 3:55 P.M., 6:50 P.M., 9:45 P.M.

I am so bummed that between the hectic end of the school year and my vacation that I've missed so many book club meetings.

However, on my European trip, I managed to get a lot of reading in. Between all the planes, trains, and automobiles I had a lot of time.

I read:
Darth Maul: Shadowhunter
Shadows of the Empire
The Cestus Deception

I enjoyed all three but I'm especially bummed that I missed the discussion on the Cestus Deception. A terrific novel. Gochi, I really wish I had had a chance to meet Steven Barnes in Indy. There's so much that I'd like to ask him!

Anyway, what are we reading for the August meeting? When and where is that meeting exactly? I checked the club schedule and the July listing is still on there.

 

August is Medstar I: Battle Surgeons. I'll have to update the club thread.

September's book will be the collected edition of the SW Trilogy novels.
