I would like to, but I can't. It would take too long, and I don't have an easy program to use to make them.

I used paint, which I think is on most computers by default. So if the computer has that you could use that Lanna.

Photoshop is much better for making banners than paint ;) Though if you don't have Photoshop, Gimp is a pretty good (and free) alternative.

At least with Photoshop, I could use Grimby's tutorial.

I have used paint for many years though, so I can do pretty complicated stuff given enough time(a few weeks at least) and/or I work on it all day, which I don't have the time to do so even during summer. I want to make a banner that in some way involves all the groups of the SWC eventually, but it may be a very long time before I can accomplish that.

I also have PAINT.NET and Macromedia, but I am not as good at those yet so I mostly still use the regular paint.

I used grimby's tutorial for the dimensions of the different parts. Though photobucket shrank the put together version. [face_frustrated]

Will this banner be this forum's banner...?

Some things I think you see on Grimby's site, but worth repeating:

Make sure your background and main are somewhat seamless where they meet, as well as well-blended.

Keep the skin tones the same.

Smooth out edges of cropped and cut images and magnify to get rid of extra pixelation.

Be creative with your fonts, but don't use too many in one banner.

Make sure your colors go well together. This includes font.

Start with a whole large image and use the slice tool rather than trying to piece together pieces in the finished product.

    I dunno. *shurgs*

This, I know I definitely need to work on, but as I said this is the second banner I've ever made and the last one had no background so it is an improvement.

Keep the skin tones the same.

I assume by this you mean if the main is light then don't make the background dark. I will keep this in mind.

Smooth out edges of cropped and cut images and magnify to get rid of extra pixelation.

I do this, but as you can see arounf Yoda I have room to improve.

Be creative with your fonts, but don't use too many in one banner.

I think I am good with this.

Make sure your colors go well together. This includes font.

Usually with font I choose a color that kinda clashes so it can be read, but I will try to be better at this.

Start with a whole large image and use the slice tool rather than trying to piece together pieces in the finished product.

Slice tool? Making the parts separate is actually easier for me. I just need to work on how I do this to make the main and the background match better.

I think you're limited by your use of Paint, honestly. It's free, and easier to use when you get started, but you should look into Gimp, which is also free. It has more tools and they get what you want done faster.

rhonderoo missed a word there - Gimp has many more tools than Paint. Its not even in the same league :p

I don't know much about GIMP, but I know photoshop is a lot easier and genreally produces better quality because of the way it saves than paint. However, it's also kind of expensive :p Plus, these banners aren't necessarily going up, so we're not looking at the quality it's saved at as much as style.

Gimp is basically a free Photoshop type program. I think there are a few things Photoshop can do that Gimp can't, but I've never needed any of those things, either :p
