What should we name ourselves, what do we want to be known by?

This thread is for those that have ideas on what we should be called. On Saturday, the entries will be no longer for I will post a poll with the names that made the deadline.
Buck and I will get to work on our banner and our icon for the group...

So, Friday at Midnight (our time) I will create the official poll to help name our group

hey guys, save your favorites for the poll

I was just wanting to see if you guys wanted to generate some new names to the pot.

 

Just some quick brainstormin':

Houston Hutts
GulfCoast Gundars (or is it Gundarks?)
GulfCoast Greedos
Houston AstroMechs (I stole this from someone--they were talking about having the AstroDome in our logo or something like that...)

And for a slogan, instead of "Houston, We Have A Problem..." ours could be "Houston, I've Got A Bad Feeling About This..."

click for the image, kinda simple, but it's the best i can do here at work. I figured this might better represent our group as we are scattered outside the rim(or loop as in 610 )rather than really concentrated in Houston.

 

I like that one a lot. We are pretty spread out, and it describes our city very well.

 

I like that outer rim pic. I think it would work very well on a/our webpage

Crunchy, sorry, maybe I am misunderstanding you, but you want to start the poll for this after midnight on Friday, and you want the officers to narrow down the list to their top ten favorite, correct? The officer elections won't be over until Sunday evening (CR ends Saturday night, the others end the next day). Since polls are limited to ten items, your plan sounds like a good one, but why not wait until Monday so the officers can pick the favored ten?

EDIT - But on second thought, if we do it that way, what if the officers just happen to not pick the one or two names that the group seems to like the best? Why don't we use this thread to get a general idea of what names are favored? Which we're kind of doing anyway, but -- well, let's keep it up, that way we can get an idea of the names people really like, and make sure they make it to the top ten.

 

it would be nice to include all the names in a poll, but since there is only 10 lines in the poll thread, I thought what better way to decide on the 10 names than the people that this board has elected.

if you can think of a better way to narrow the list down to 10 for the poll, I am open to suggestions. The poll can wait till Monday

Well, in my untalented-ness, I can't make a banner, but I thought it would be cool to have a pic of Mission Control with the Death Star on the big screen. If that was a well liked idea, I thought then our name could be something kinda long that would have a nifty acronym (I sorta stole that idea from Alexialexander). If we did that then when we wanted to come up with a logo/icon we could put some sort of Star Wars modification on the NASA logo and use our nifty acronym. Unfortunately, I can't think of any names in addition to not being capable of developing the banner myself.

So if anyone wants to use my idea for a banner, please be my guest. And if anyone can think of acronym friendly names, I'm all ears (eyes?). Unless no one else likes my idea. Which is possible.

I just thought it'd be kinda cool since we are one of the few places who naturally have a connection to space. As they say when you got it flaunt it!

 

muwhahahaha, i thought i threw this away, but i found it, a month or so ago i was so insanely bored i went and wrote down the nicknames of all the FF's, of course there are some new ones i don't have...maybe i'll find them after i post this. If i don't have it listed, then more than likely that ff is just like us in that they're "*insert name* FF" on the boards.

The font sucks since I don't know what kind of font is particularly Star Wars-esqe. Any tips would be appreciated (I'm not an artist by any stretch of the imagination.)
