Since late 2004, Chattooine has had monthly meetings at The Rave Theater in Chattanooga on every 2nd Monday of the month at 6:30pm in their party room. Everyone is welcome!! We have random quizzes (with prizes) and discuss everything and everything geeky.

Please check out the website (www.chattooine.com) as events are listed there along with the latest pictures.

I just finished posting pictures from as far back as our very first official meeting (Sep 2004) on the website. Eight years strong, yo! We're still doing events (looking at costuming up for The Hobbit next) and planning our End of the World party (which thankfully takes place after The Hobbit... or at least part 1... Well that settles it. The world can't end yet. Still, we can have a party about it. We'll also be marching in the annual "Santa Arrival parade" at Hamilton Place Mall... something we've done for years.

Although we have a pretty random quiz at the beginning of our monthly meetings (with prizes!), I'd like to come up with some stuff to liven it up a bit. Something to help bring people into talking more and not just listen to me run down a list of past events and upcoming stuff. Any thoughts?

Next meeting: December 10, 2012 @ 6:30pm in the party room of The Rave Theater. As always, just tell the ticket taker you're with "the Star Wars group" and they'll point you in the right direction. We'll be discussing The Hobbit premier (costuming up for the midnight premier on Dec 13th and going back Friday night at 7:30pm). We'll also discuss plans for our annual Christmas party, but we'll also be incorporating the End of the World party. Might as well go out with a bang, right? Also, we're looking to throw a New Year's PJ's bash. Should be fun! Game/movie nights have returned!! On the 4th Friday of every month (to make planning easier), I'll be hosting either a movie double feature night or a game night (which we'll vote on beforehand).

Of course with Disney planning to release more Star Wars movies, there's always help available for those that would like to start planning for costuming future events. Chattooine's first BIG event was Episode III, so the NEXT one will be HUGE for us.

Just a reminder, we meet every 2nd Monday of the month at Carmike East Ridge 18 + IMAX (formally known as The Rave Cinemas) at 6:30pm. Meetings usually last about an hour or so. We've got a reputation now of costuming at various movie premiers throughout the year, so there's always stuff to look forward to (and help if you need it). Some examples of the movies we've costumed for are:

Star Wars (of course), Harry Potter, Pirates, GI Joe, OZ: The Great and Powerful, Muppets, Avengers (and any Marvel comic book movie), Batman (and other DC comics movies), The Hobbit, MIB 3, etc...

We do the annual Santa Arrival Parade at Hamilton Place Mall every year along with doing a few events for the Chattanooga Zoo and Creative Discovery Museum, and we always hit a few stores on Free Comic Book Day. We even were involved with a production with the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra (BOOtacular).

We also have social events and gatherings from time to time. Armor parties, bowling, Talk Like A Pirate Day, skating, paintball, picnics, game nights, Christmas parties, etc

And we help out with various charities. We've been involved with the Boy Scouts, Chattanooga Food Bank, American Heart Association (Heart Association Ball), March of Dimes (Gormet Gala),

Pictures from past events can be found on our website: www.chattooine.com

Questions? Write us at info@chattooine.com or look us up on facebook!

Chattooine just finished doing a (gasp!) Star Trek event! Yup! We dressed up and costumed 2 nights at Carmike East Ridge (formerly "The Rave"). Sandwiched between the two events, we made a trip to Ft. Payne, AL to cover a last minute request for costumers for a Relay for Life cancer event. Pics for all those events are now on the website.

    Up next:
We're going to cheer on the cyclists at the Volkswagon USA Cycling Professional Road & Time Trial National Championships on Memorial Day (5/27). It'll be pot luck on costuming, so the more colorful or stand-out(ish), the better!
Game nights are every 4th Friday of the month.
Meetings are every 2nd Monday of the month.

We're also gearing up for Man of Steel, Wolverine, Kick Ass 2, Disney's Frozen, Thor 2, and The Hobbit 2.

    Reminder about the meeting schedules:

The name was changed, but the place is still the same. What used to be called "The Rave" theater is now Carmike East Ridge. We still meet on every 2nd Monday of the month at 6:30pm. Some of us get there around 6:00pm for some social time. When you arrive, do not buy a movie ticket. Just let the ticket taker know you're with Chattooine and they'll direct you to the Party Room (glass-walled room to the right).

    April 13th, 2015 Meeting Notes
    Events since the last meeting:

We did the Cinderella movie premier (2 nights) at the theater, big turn out & everyone did well!

Gaming for Kitties made about $850! Big turn out! Everyone who showed up in costume was a big hit and it’s very appreciated! There is another event coming up that will be Mortal Kombat related.
The following week was an autism event where we had several of our members dress as Disney characters and were very well received! All the kids just loved all of the costumes! Maleficent was so popular she was practically dragging kids around behind her, lol! (woohoo Shellina!) We may be doing more stuff with this organization again in the future.
Hunt to Can Hunger had over 1000 families come to the event, Chattooine people/costumes were so popular and we had such fun!

Hug a Bunny Day at the zoo was also very well received. The zoo always appreciates any time we can add to all the activities going on.
Coming up at the end of the month:
We have our Siskin Children's Hospital Carnival event. They want medieval characters & princesses. We need to be very cautious to monitor the reaction of the kids as some of these are special needs.

There’s also an event going on at Red Bank High School that same day that just popped up. if anyone wants to attend it who isn’t going to the Siskin event. Details will be posted in the facebook group shortly.
Relay for Life is 80s themed! Anything 80s including cartoons, movies, etc! Again, details will be posted about this soon.

April 30th marks the beginning of our crazy week!

Blood Assurance Hero Week! There was a huge drop in donations from the snow last month so they are in desperate need to replenish the blood supply. April 27th through May 2nd will be a celebration of real life heroes, and the week is superhero themed! Blood Assurance would like as many people to come to any BA office to come out in costume to just hang out or donate blood if they choose! There will be a lot of media coverage as well. Participants will also get a free movie ticket! A list of locations and times has been posted in a separate thread along with a number to call to confirm when costumed characters can be available.
April 30th is Avengers: Age of Ultron premier! Squee! We'll be doping April 30th AND May 2 at Carmike East Ridge.
May 1st is Star Wars night at the Chattanooga Lookouts. This is a LucasFilm Limited approved event. Food and drinks will be provided along with storage space and changing area. This is the 3rd year we've done this and they've been a blast each time.
May 2nd is Free Comic Book day! Get in costume and head to your favorite comic book store to drive traffic to the stores!
Same day, starting at 1 pm, we will be heading to the Chattanooga Public Library. So much stuff is happening! Demo of the 4th Floor and how you can use the equipment there for costuming. Lots of games and tournaments. If you don’t want to go all the way downtown you can also go to the Eastgate Library. Get with Megan Emory if you need information on that.
Same day, after the library, we’ve been asked to go to McKay’s for FCBD! We’re going to try to get there starting at around 3. If you just want to go there you can feel free to go!
Then that night is Avengers: Age of Ultron! (Yup... we know this is going to be a long (but awesome!) day....
May the 4th (be with you) Mainline Ink is having a Star Wars themed event, they are giving discounts on tattoos of people in costume and for Star Wars tattoos, and they will have an art gallery. If you want to submit Star Wars themed art you can do so for them to display. Jennifer Edge is our contact there, you can get with Ricky if you’d like to be connected for this.
We are working to resolve the mix up with the shirt order. Please make sure that you tell Nicole or Jeff if you got an item that was incorrect in some way. We’re going through the order that remains to be picked up and the “extras” and we will cross reference this with the order so we can find out what we still need to get.
    Update: everything's been resolved! Yay!

Brian Parks is working on a Deathstroke movie, if you’d like to be involved, get with him!
