Hehehe! This reminds me of the time I tried to tell my wife that Harry Potter borrows a considerable ammount from SW, but she did not want to know. Got quite aggitated with me if I remember correctly for even suggesting that HP was related to the holy trinity!

 

The speeder bike chase in the second Harry Potter sort of seals the deal.

 

Kinda glad my wife isn't in to this stuff, one dork in the family is enough.

 

Not to mention ILM does the effects for both films.

 

Do you understand how many movies you can do that for. I know this is going to cause an uproar but Lucas is'nt in Rowling's league. She's a WAY better story teller. IMO when all 7 books/movies are done they will be better than Star Wars because of one reason the story is better. For every fault in Potter I can give you 3 for Star Wars. Don't get me wrong I love Star Wars if I did'nt I would'nt be here. Rowling has more money than the queen and she only wrote 4 books that is saying something.

 

I think "seriously comparing books with movies" is a contradiction in itself. You just can't do that.

When the movie is done just like the book I think you can compare. I am calm just saying Potter is a better story than Star Wars.

 

I think you went past calm to completely asleep, because SW is a much better story than Harry Potter.

^^^ You could'nt have read any Potter books because you have no clue what your talking about. Potter has many layers of story IMO Star Wars is nothing but a battle of Good VS Evil and the redemption of Vader. I'm not bashing Star Wars, I Love the GFFA just not as much as Scar Head.

First off, neither of them are very good. Their both just popular phenomenon with very little artistic merit. Scholars agree that the Potter books are crap just as much as film critics do about Lucas's movies. They're precisely the same, really, in their perspective genres. Which makes this whole argument pointless.

 

I've said it before; I'll say it again:

J.K. Rowling totally ripped off Star Wars. There are way too many similarities between Harry Potter and Star Wars to be coincidence.
