I usually regard cheesecake as heavy and filling, a dessert you have when you're still feeling rather hungry.

Unless you have the kind from Sara Lee, they're mostly air.

The top is a bit crunchy, sure, but the top is a tiny portion of a cobbler that is over a filling of soft fruit that has been baking. The filling in a cheesecake should set and be firm.

i have found that the key to a successful cobbler is to keep the fruit layer as minimized as possible to allow the crunchy cakey bits to shine.

Why not just make an upside-down cake then?

Marcus, in an upside down cake the fruit ends up on top because you have to turn it back over. That's not like a cobbler at all.

So hard to decide. I love a good creamy cheesecake, hate it dry, but a well made cobbler, still warm with some ice cream melting on it is heaven itself!

I am aware of this. However he emphasised the 'cakey' bits as being more important than the fruits. The cake/fruit ratio in an UDC vs cobbler was my point of contention.

Besides you could just not turn it over.

I prefer pavlova, anyway. It's not as filling as there's practically nothing there. :D

I have to agree with Kate on this. However if you were to have a bake off, I might be swayed to make a choice.

I'm on the same boat. But I guess if I really really had to choose, I'd go for cheesecake.

This. And since either one of them packs an unholy amount of calories, there's no reason to feel better (or worse, depending your POV) about which one to choose.

I was just thinking that The Cheesecake Factory could probably work out a combination of the two, if they haven't already.

lol @ the idea of dt421 googling "cobbler cheescake".

    chocolate cake > pudding

key lime pie > everything mentioned thus far (as to the key lime cheesecake- why not just go for the real thing?)

    creme brulee > all

My initial thought would be cheesecake, but after further contemplation, I'll go with cobbler. I love some cheesecake, but cheesecake don't love me.
