ST Chewbacca in Episode VIII

I think each little box on the belt contains a yummy Wookiee treat. Bugs or small marsupials or banana muesli bars.
Just something for him to nibble on during the day.

 

maybe your right. When Han was frozen, Chewie still had his bandolier on. If it was a weapon they would have taken it off him.

 

Yep, that is the Falcon, it just looks like it is a set where they only constructed the cockpit and glass, not much of the exterior. I hope Chewie flies the Falcon in a space battle. It'll be sad that he's not there wit Han, but it'll be satisfying to see him still fighting against evil in the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy!

 

Exactly. Chewie's bandolier is his version of Winnie the Pooh's shirt.

 

No idea, but it looks cool. He wouldn't be Chewbacca without it. And by the way, my Chewbacca love has really grown in recent years. I liked him before, but with Carrie dying in real life, and Han dying in the films....I'm holding on to the characters we still have. Love ya, Chewie.

 

If Chewie ever touches his bandolier it would be appropriate if it was to take it off and put it on Han's grave.

 

I like this very much. We could see in the Solo spinoff how Han gives Chewie the bandolier and then in Ep. 9 we see Chewie putting it on Han's grave/memorial at the end of the film (if he survives).

 

That would be a nice way to bookend things.

 

Nice. It would remind me of Rocky putting the champsionship belt on Apollo's grave in Rocky IV. Hopefully Chewie would be wearing sunglasses, just like Rocky did. And Chewie's speech would probably sound just about as intelligent as Rocky's did.

Anyone think this will be the last Saga film for Chewy? I love Chewy, but he honestly seems kinda irrelevant to honest!

 

For sure. He needs to take the Falcon and go back to Lumpy and co.

 

I don't know about irrelevant but it wouldn't surprise me if he isn't in the saga movies at some point in the near future. It would be kinda nice to see him get the happy ending that escaped Han.

 

Agreed. Plus, it's time to bring a Gigoran in as the new alien sidekick.

 

I wonder if some of the Classic characters head for being in the background. You don't need to kill off Chewie or C3PO. But they can be let go from being at the front of the stories. Send Chewie home. He's not dead, he's there for use in the future. If he turns up in Episode 12, everyone cheers.

Having said that, they made Chewie really lovable in TFA, and it looks like he's going to be a scene stealer in TLJ, and maybe in the Solo movie too. So, maybe he will stay around simply because Directors love him.

 

chewie is not irrelevant at all. he's just as intertwined to the resistance and family drama as everyone, even more than most with the latter. but since he's not a human character he's just seen as a sort of mascot.

one of the surprising good things about tfa was that chewie came into his own rather than just being han's sidekick. I'd love for them to continue this trend.

they could have chewie retire in a really nice way, but i dont see it as a requirement at all. there's plenty of reason for him to continue the fight there's potential for some deep moments with luke, leia, and kylo.

 

Yeah I could see the OT cast eventually taking a back seat sorta like Leonard Nimoy in the Star Trek reboot.

Heck R2 and 3PO were bit players in TFA. With Leia not returning in Ep. 9 I'm guessing 3PO will go too. Maybe Chewie and 3PO and R2 will go off together.

 

Chewie can stick around until episode 24 and I would love every scene.

 

If Chewie is still around in episode 24 I hope that by then he has two bandoliers that crisscross each other. That would be rad.

 

Chewie will be hanging out at that farm where your pet dog is.

First he doesn't get a medal in ANH and now folks want him phased out. Forever being shafted is Chewie. Hope he sticks around as long as possible. The Falcon needs a co-pilot after all.
