i have a rather large number of chili dogs stacked in the corner of my room. they're a little bit cool and clammy at this point, but are still fine to eat if warmed to an acceptable degree in a microwave oven. i asked darth krono if he wanted one but he said no. all i need is his address and i can send it right over. or meet him at his local rollerskating rink. or heck even the closest walmart. we could meet and i could heat the chili dog in the walmart microwave oven and feed the reheated chili dog to him. this is not a big deal, guys. they are just sitting here gathering dust in my room. but not so much dust that it would render them inedible. i've already had my fill, believe me. i'm done with chili dogs for the moment but that doesn't mean that they should sit here and go to waste! listen, i have a full tank of gas and i am ready to go to darth krono's walmart.

That would be quite torturous, since I don't like chili dogs.

If there's no cheese on it, it's a criminal waste of both chili and dog.

Never tried one but from what I can tell it's like a hotdog with chilli con carne poured on top? So...a Mexican Sloppy Joe?

This is haggis molded into a tube shape and bathed in ground beef?

If you've got chili dogs you ought to get them sweaters.

Diced chuck steak (not ground), brown it. Throw in some diced onions, tomatoes, whatever chili spices you want (honestly I often use premixed chili seasoning [sorry not sorry] because it's a very cheap way to outsource the job of getting the right ratio of chili powder, cumin, cayenne, whatever else you want in there. And you can adjust heat and to taste from there). Take a can of beans and put them away in the pantry for some other day. Maybe pour some Shiner Bock in there. Simmer for as long as you can stand it.

The best serving suggestion is just to have that in a bowl with some cheese and onions and sour cream, but you asked for a chili dog recipe, so:

Buy a Hebrew National, grill it, put it in a hot dog bun. Waste some perfectly good chili on top.

What's a Hebrew National? Does it have a bit chopped off the end?

I'm gonna try my chili recipe with diced steak now. I've always used ground, but diced sounds like it would come out much better. Thanks, Dani!

As if I wasn't already hungry enough. I despise run of the mill hotdogs, but if you put chili and cheese on top of one...it's an offer I can't refuse.

It's a just a kosher hot dog brand, so (1) all beef, not made out of "chicken, pork, turkey, and other meat products" like the generic hot dogs at the store say, and (2) ostensibly made out of real meat parts of the cow and not lips and buttholes as the common wisdom goes.

Harps, it's the best, you'll never go back! I also sometimes like super coarsely ground beef, if I can find it at the store or feel like dealing with the guys at the deli counter.

Thank you. I agree that it sounds better without the whole frank and bun bit.
