Only in a support role for Robbie Williams.

Gah. Auckland Dec 6. I'd prefer Duran Duran on their own, in all honesty.

It's funny. I was never a fan of them in the 80's, but you tend to look back with rose-coloured glasses 20 years after the fact. :D

    [image=http://80music.about.com/library/postcards/images/duran.jpg]

Should be a fun night out (except the Robbie bit) and I dare say babysitters will be at a premium on that night in Auckland.

    More details here.

except that it's not actually the original line up. The 'classic' lineup maybe, but the original incarnation of Duran Duran featured Stephen Duffy (later of one of my favourite bands, The Lilac Time) on vocals. Simon Le Bon didn't join until after Duffy quit.

I appreciate that this is the most trainspotterish post ever ...

    Back to work,

SFL, I'd love to go, it just depends if the ticket prices are out of my league. Can't get comps from work for these acts. :(

    Hey, I like the Police.

And he's in Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.

I have no problem with him... unless you care to enlighten me with examples, Humble.

Bowie is coming early next year, though whether he'll be playing in Auckland or Wellington is yet to be decided. I'll be happy to go to any venue, but I'd prefer Wellington since it's where I live. I think I've got about 40 Bowie recordings now, and at least 5 DVD's which feature him.

Sting is great but that line in Zoolander really cracks me up...
"Sting, Sting would be another hero of mine, all that music he's made over the years.. I don't really listen to it, but the fact that he's making it, I respect that."

What a kick in the pants. And yes, I heard he was a git in real life too, very unfortunate.

I think I heard on the radio that this is one of the fastest selling concerts in NZ history. It seems like Robbie Williams is more popular here than anywhere else ... I don't know why, exactly.

Jareth, an ugly bloke? Type his name in google and you'll probably get ten thousand fan sites dedicated to lusting over him. Although I guess it could be more about the charisma than his looks.

Without being overly homoerotic I can admit that he's a very good looking guy, even now while he's into his 50's. Plus the ladies love to see the size of his package, those tights are very flattering on him in The Labyrinth.

Personally, it scared me a little when I was young.

    OMG Deflok!!

That is one of the funniest things I can ever remember seeing from my childhood. Bowie with that huge ...well you know...sticking out through the whole movie, it makes you wonder waht those puppet operators were doing on set :D

See the man himself has a new album out, with a great ad on tv showing his may distinct phases.

    Mr Deflok ...

Quick poll ... your top 5 Bowie albums ...

    Mine:

    1. Low
    2. The Rise & Fall of Ziggy Stardust & The Spiders From Mars.
    3. Young Americans.
    4. Diamond Dogs (very underrated IMHO)
    5. Hunky Dory.

Can't wait to see him next year ... Vanessa and I have decided we'll pay _anything_ ...

    You don't like Suede perchance?

Hmm, tough question... I'll give you my top 5 but not in any order...

    Heathen
    Outside
    Low
    Ziggy Stardust
    Earthling
with Honourable mentions to Reality, Lodger, Aladdin Sane and Let's Dance

As for suede, oh yeah, feels reallllly good against the naked body. ;)

I'll pay anything to see him live too, unfortunately I haven't been so lucky as to find a woman/partner whom has the same love, or any love, for Bowie and his music.

I'm actually setting out to building an Official New Zealand Bowie fansite, I've never bought a domain before so it should be an interesting venture. I'll build the website before I do though.

I'm quite amazed to see more Bowie fans here, I thought we were a dying or well hidden breed!

Forgot to mention, The Labyrinth soundtrack owns you!

well, count me in as your first member if you do ... I've been a fan for about 10 years, having got into him in the early 90's via Morrissey and Suede. To be honest I haven't been entirely taken by anything he's done since "Let's Dance" though ... but throughout the 70s he was head and shoulders above anyone else, and even now he's still got "it", unlike most of his contempories.

You like T.REx and/or Roxy Music?

Seen "Velvet Goldmine" and/or "The Man Who Fell To Earth"?
