he didn't ever say that. but the fact that he doesn't think it's a poem doesn't magically make it not a poem, you know? i guess you're arguing that it's intellectually consistent since he thinks it's a history book, for him to read it as a history book. i get that.

i'm saying it's wrong to think it's a history book, because there's no evidence for that.

(i was going to say 'i'm saying it's dumb' instead of 'i'm saying it's wrong', but i'll give you the victory here because i don't want to start in on 15 paragraphs of proper posting etiquette arguments again. so you win the day on that one).

 

So why didn't you just say this? It's what was actually true. Why would you claim something was his position that clearly wasn't?


Regarding Creationism: In regards to the creationism thing, I think you don't understand how science works very well. You can absolutely say that he is AnakinAnarchist is wrong to think the Earth only 6000 years old. You can think that his position is not well-supported scientifically. You absolutely cannot say that he "does not have a scientific worldview" just because he thinks one thing that doesn't have scientific evidence behind it. That's not how science works, or what it means. Being wrong on something is being wrong on something. Believing in science is about believing in the methodology of science.

EDIT: I would like to clarify that it's perfectly possible AnakinAnarchist doesn't have a scientific worldview. I don't know or care. I've already suggested several points where I completely disagree with him. There are probably more. My only point here is that the specific thing you have cited as disproving a scientific worldview actually doesn't.

I definitely resent you calling me THAT particular term. I'd even not like to be called Anarchist.

And to answer the question, he's more defending how I make my points in comparison to PRENNTACULAR's. But he agrees with some and disagrees with some. It's not as though I've met anyone else with EXACTLY the same viewpoints as I do, in fact, I don't think ANYONE has.
