Yes, it isn't even Thanksgiving yet, but planning for a Christmas party is important to do. I'll be filling up this thread with things as we come up with them.

Just to let you know, it hasn't been completely decided if we will do a potluck or a restaurant thing. More polls will inevitably come up and mucho discussion at the November meeting...

Not necessarily, Alyson. You know how things go. We talk about it, but nothing fruitful seems to come up. If you want to share any ideas or what not, please feel free to in this thread. We can mull over those things at the meeting, if you can't make it...

that would be better. I was going to spend sunday sleeping in and cleaning-since my part of the house looks like the death star recently visted.

I am up for a potluck and a secret santa or white epehant type of event.

I like the secret santa idea, but it would have to be under a budget, if we decided to get things as a secret santa, it would have to be nothing over a certain amount of money.

I would like to see the infamous "Holiday Special" and the fan films that I missed at the Bubonicon, at the Christmas party. And eat food.

Well, the biggest thing we need to figure out first and foremost is where it'll be at. I can't commit my house right now. So I'm looking for all volunteers. PM me...

If I had more room...I would be up for it! But those of you who have been to the house know that it is not that big! Good for summer events....not good if indoors :(

I think Roman brought cups to the Halloween party, of which enough are left for the xmas party. Also Brian is good for a 2 quart jug of apple cider that was unopened. Todd (my spouse) is willing to make Boeuf Bourguignon (beef, mushrooms {big enough to pick out}, pearl onions and cooked red wine, for those of us that may prefer a choice to turkey, --as long as food cooked in wine doesn't break the charter rules. I believe the alcohol in the wine is supposed to evaporate during the cooking process. Bob, any comments?

    Ah, yes, the alcohol debate...

First, yes, you are correct in that the alcohol evaporates thanks to the heat during cooking...

Secondly, the point about alcohol has been widely contested by those of us here, and elsewhere.

Wook and I talked about this. Official events vs. social events. An official event is somewhere where we are in public and have a face to the general public. A social event is basically anything where we get together, not necessarily in the name of Mos Alba, but just to socialize, whether it's at a bowling alley, restaurant, or someone's house.

There will be a thorough explanation of that in the charter. I hadn't completely worked through that, thusly, it's not in the copy I handed out at this weekend's meeting...
