First the tickets for the 4 day pass are $95 each.

Now in order to be able to reserve a room you MUST purchase a 4 day pass before you can reserve it. Hope you have that credit on your cards!

I'll be up all night Sunday into Monday waiting to be one of the first to get tickets then reserve my room.

We've talked about hotels and the general concensus seems to be the Marriott. If not that then the Hyatt. I don't really care, so long as I get a room.

Here's the link to the official Star Wars site's announcement of this:

Great news! Just one problem...I'm trying last minute here to become a Fan Club member to get the exclusive lanyard, and the site won't let me...I go to the signup page, and must have hit "Join Now" like 10 times after submitting my credit card info...and nothing. It just stays are the same page. Anyone else having this problem? I dunno what the heck to do... :(

    Try signing up through here:

    http://shop.starwars.com/Category/Category.aspx?categoryid=57

Let me know if this helps.

Also, if we can pick what floor (which I doubt), which one would you folks like? 3 for EPIII or 6 for 6 movies? 7th because it's a lucky number?

    Which floor?

(It doesn't matter to me, but if we can pick a floor, it would be nice to try and get the same floor.)

Okay, is it going to be the same as it was for C2, where you ordered and you got the lanyard? Or one per member? I'm going to have my parents with me, and possibly my sister also (maybe my brother-in-law too)... 4 tickets won't do.

I'm thinking that I'm still going to try and get a room with you all, even though I'm going to be helping with the 501st and Rebel Legion.

Sal, you are the man! Thanks bud, that link worked out great for me. Now I don't feel so dirty for not being an offical Fan Club member for so long, lol.

In his best Obi-wan voice on Kamino
    "That's why I'm here."

Really no problem at all. I enjoyed doing it. I just wish there was a better outcome for the Fanforce proposal of rooms.

I just emailed the Customer Service at the Fan Club. I renewed my Fan Club membership about 2 weeks before they stopped taking renewals in anticipation of the merger. I am a member of the Fan Club; I am not a member of Hyperspace. My membership doesn't expire until April 2005. I'm curious what they're going to say about that. I'll be rather upset if I can't get the Fan Club benefits. I feel I should be able to get the Fan Club lanyard just like the Hyperspace members.

So we want to all try for the Marriott first? Not a hotel with a lot of fancy stuff but Marrriott has always been reliable and not too expensive.

I'll be up all night Sunday into Monday waiting to be one of the first to get tickets then reserve my room.

I thought it was 12:00 noon PDT not midnight.

Don you're lucky it all went through. I renewed my Insider/Hyperspace membership in July and although I finally got them to admit I wasn't a brand new member and made sure I didn't miss any issues of Insider, I'm still emailing back and forth to straighten it out. I do have to say the lady I have been dealing with has been fantastic and has really been working hard on it. Evidently I have the longest customer service record she has ever seen.

 That much? Hey Mary, did you ever get your membership kit? I still haven't gotten mine... I'm going to have to e-mail them, but I don't know who to e-mail.

They sent me a renewal notice; I renewed it. I have the membership kit and everything. I went through the exact same thing with CII. I never ordered anything from them, I don't have a shop.starwars.com account, I still got my Fan Club member lanyard. I just emailed them and asked about it. I expect the same thing to happen again.

Try for the Marriott. The Hyatt might be difficult since that is where the volunteer block will be booked (probably about 500 rooms).

And remember that the sign up time is noon PDT, not our time. ;)

You don't think these will sell out before I get home around 5ish that day, will they? I really don't feel like leaving work early just for that.

Cindy, they mail the membership kits quarterly. It can take up to 12 weeks to get one. I stil haven't gotten mine from renewing in July. There is a letter about it in this Insider (just got yesterday!)

Is everyone going to go for the 4 days? Arrive early Thursday and leave Sunday evening?

I'll be arriving on Wed evening (due to volunteering) and leaving Sun.

BTW--just a warning that I received. If anyone tries to give you the "volunteer code" for reserving a room at CIII in the volunteer block at the Hyatt, don't use it! They will check the names on the hotel vs. the list of people from RL and 501st who have "signed up" and will cancel your reservation if they don't match. Then you will be out of a room. :(

Finally! It took forever, but I am now a Hyperspace member. Of course, for all the good it does me (other than the room thing). I don't WANT to look at spoilers! :_|

Poor Kim. Don't forget they have a fiction section. There are a lot of stories that are EU and not spoilers.

Are they requiring the volunteers arrive Wed or you just have to be there too early on Thurs? My current plans are Wed. to Sun. too. Depends also on if I can get a room from the reserved block. If not I may wind up having to get creative.

Talked with a person from SW Insider/Hyperspace:

She said that (due to the merging of Hyperspace/Insider/Fan Club) they've had a number of problems where someone's Hyperspace expires...and yet they are paid up on Insider. Point being, Emily and I are still considered members of the official SW fanclub...despite not having renewed our HS account (which will happen soon anyway)

If anyone needs/wants the phone number...PM me!

I also got info today from CIII people on the "families" package:

Our ?Friends & Family? passes were designed with Star Wars Fan Club members who have families in mind. It?s a definite improvement over the system for Celebration II, that required Fan Club members to buy a membership for each person in their family in order to let them enjoy Fan Club benefits.

Here?s how the ?Friends & Family? passes work:

Each member of the Fan Club who buys a 4-day badge for Celebration III will receive 4 passes. The passes will be shipped with the badge in the spring of 2005, close to the start of the event.
Each pass can be used once, and will be collected at time of use.
The passes will not be day-specific, so can be used on any day, at any time.
The passes are NOT admission badges for Celebration III, but benefit passes only. Each person who attends Celebration III will need their own admission badge.
Children under 6 are admitted free with their parents, and won?t need to use Friends & Family passes.
The passes can be used for 1) entrance to the Convention Center during the ?fan club only? hour before the center opens to the rest of the public. Once inside the center members can enter anything that is open during the special hour with no additional identification; or 2) Entrance into the Fan Club Lounge; or 3) One access to other Fan Club benefits if any are announced.

For example, if you are a Fan Club member and have a partner or child who is not, you may choose to get them in for the bonus hour each of the four days of the show. By turning in one pass each day they would not have extra passes to use for other benefits like admittance to the Fan Club Lounge.

To have full Fan Club benefits at all times during Celebration III, individuals will need to have their own memberships. We understand this is not a perfect solution, but it is an improvement that we hope our members will take advantage of and enjoy.

We understand that members don?t need multiple Fan Club subscriptions in their homes, but it?s a tough situation. We also don?t feel it?s fair to ask our volunteers and security folks to make judgment calls on whether pairs and groups of people are really families.

We look forward to seeing you at Star Wars Celebration III!

    Mary Franklin
    Fan Event Specialist
    Lucasfilm, Ltd.

    Hope that helps everyone.

I foresee lots of "Family Plan" pass trading ahead.

And, Will, noon Pacific Daylight Time is 3PM here. There will be a huge rush on Monday, but I would be shocked if they sold out simply because things like this almost can't sell out. The convention is going to have 30,000 people but the convention center can probably hold 3 times that many. The only possible reason they would sell out is if they're only selling a limited number of advance tickets and I haven't seen anything about that.

The tickets for the convention may not sell out. But since you have to get your ticket to reserve a hotel room...

    Which floor?

I'm partial to 13 myself, although I doubt there's a building in the entire city with a floor labeled 13. Most buildings have a 12th floor and a 14th floor right above it.

    This is very frustrating!
I can get the login page once in a while to register, but then it never goes through!

    Well, I'm registered.
But I can't get to the page where I select a badge
I hope that I am actually able to get this done before I have to leave out of town tonight!
