Phx Cine Capri ***BIG UPDATE!!!***

i spoke with the manager of the AZMills harkins theatre, and she said that they broke ground for the new site of the Cine Capri last month!

it is somewhere in north scottsdale, near the 101 freeway, and should be open mid-next year!

so it looks like this is really gonna happen!

i will update when i have more info!

Duron, from what i heard from dan harkins in may, and now with my new info, they all said the site would be in north scottsdale, near the 101 to make it easy to get to. not sure exaclty where, but i'll keep looking...

I think there's a parking garage on the old site, BTW. I don't think the basement there would be a very good place. I've heard that the screen is rolled up and stored behind one of the screens at the Harkins by the Tower in Mesa.

Sideshow, can you convince Dan that either on opening Day or a day before opening Day have a SW marathon. That would be so cool.

I wish he would have placed it in So. Scottsdale. That area needs something like that especially in the Los Arcos Mall area.

yeah! channel 12 did a report on the cine capri tonite!

two things...

they said it is slated to open in july 2003!!! yeah! we can watch return of the king in the cine capri!!! (not to mention episode III, it goes without saying!!!)

it will have a digital projector, bigger screen than the old cine capri, and it will still have those huge gold drapes!

i'm not 100% on the location, but i know it is in scottsdale, next to the 101...

I saw this on channel 3 this morning, and heard it on the radio on my way to work: it is going up at Scottsdale Road and the 101!!

I wonder what the first movie shown there will be? I hope it will be something worthy of that wonderful big screen.
