Phx Cine Capri ***BIG UPDATE!!!***

I read an article in todays paper about the new Cine Capri. Here's some more tidbits for all you crazy people(like me) who love facts and figures:

-It will be part of a 14 screen multiplex.
-The screen size is 27' X 69'7"
-Stadium seating capacity is greater than 600.
-It will have both digital and traditional 35mm capabilities.
-It uses a total of 41 Klipsch speakers, 8 of which are subwoofers.
-Total system power: 31,900 Watts.
-The main chandelier will be restored, however the draperies and screen will be replicas, since they are too deteriorated.

 

Yippie! Right on. I wonder if they'll replicate the old 60's look to it or if it just be BIG.

 

I hope it at least has the same atmosphere as the old building. It was so beautiful, and such a great place to experience a movie. (Especially SW! I was lucky enough to get to see the whole OT back to back there. It was one of the best movie experiences of my life. )

 

I saw all three of the OT there. It was awsome.

If it opens next summer its possible the Matrix might be the first show.

I heard the screen is even LARGER than the orginal Cine Capri. Like 12 feet wider! ! ! I just moved here recently from Florida, but would visit my brother in Scottsdale from time to time and saw a few of movies at the original Cine Capri. That place was great. I saw Titanic, Independence Day and Braveheart there. Why did they tear down the old one anyway? Since sideshow has contacts...I would love to be in the first audience to get to see a movie at the new one. Any chance at getting all of us movie geeks in for the first show, Sideshow? Anyway, nice to meet all of you. Call me Jedi Buzz Lightyear or JBL for short.

i'm sure there will be a PHXFF event to see the first movie showing at the new theatre(were hoping for the new matrix movie!), so stick around and you're sure to be with us!

Man, I drove by the Cine Capri site the other night, and it's coming along nicely. It's just south of the 101 near Scottsdale RD. Basically accross the freeway from the new Desert Ridge Plaza.

god i hope you ppl know how far out that place is from the rest of humanity, we drove by there the other day to the new Gamersedge north store and it was light 20 min father out than where im working in scottsdale.
it looks cool and all but im undecided if i wanna drive that far to stand in line for the new movie

 

its not that bad really, with the 101 freeway its only like 15 or 20 minutes away from tempe. about as far as azmills or chandler fashion center from me...
