Pash isn't here. Otherwise I would ask her if this is ok.

This is the first class for Crimson Jedi members, however, all are invited to learn. :)

    Ok guys, creating threads.

I know when I was new, the scariest thing about the JC boards was creating a thread. I thought it was gonna get closed or mocked or something. So I resolved to wait until I had a great idea.

Hey, don't be scared. It's ok. If your thread gets locked, it's no big deal. Nobody is gonna brand you anything other than a newbie, which most of you are. Your name isn't gonna get written down and your hopes of becoming a mod won't be dashed.

However, your thread should not be getting locked if you follow these rules:

    #1- Research!
-Use the search enjine! It isn't there for looks! Type up the subject you want to post a thread about. Make sure you try a couple of different searches. If there are no related subjects, you're good!
-PM a mod! They are here to help you! Ask them if they know of any topics along the lines of the one you are interested in. If they give you the green light, you're good! You can pm a mod questions about anything! Take advantage!

    #2- Content!
-Make sure your thread has a subject! Do not post a thread called General Mayhem and yell and scream in the intro.
-Make sure the subject is not an advertisement. DON'T SPAM! That is a big no no!
-Make sure it is a subject you think others will be intersted in! Don't post a thread about how you have a black computer!

    #3- No Spamming!
-If your thread is not getting attention, let it die! Don't bump it to the top! What I mean is, if you are the last person to post in it, don't post right after your post in order to revive your thread!

That is all for now. If nayone has naything else to add or any questions at all, please be my guest!

    Use common sense.

Do not create a thread to tell people goodbye, goodnight or so on. These are things that can be said in the thread you have been posting it recently.

    Good class. and good advice.

Also make sure to proof read your topic before you post it. If you have a lot of run on sentences, or if your thread is just simply hard to read most people won't.

As far as the advice goes..it is good and useful for newbies...but having alot of Crimson Jedi threads is not the way to go.

So perhaps a more general title for this thread and whenever you want to update, you can tell me so I can update the title... :)

So far, okay. ;) But let's keep it all to this thread, ok? ;)

You're only half right, you can also post about it if the thread is A) Not in the first five pages of the board, and B) Has been inactive for more then two weeks.

    Heheh, Kilo...actually, partly true. ;)

I think a more General "Newbie 101" might be more appropriate as it is for the benefit of all newbies, right? ;) :D

I would suggest that in the beginning you post in more threads than creating them. You learn a lot more from just being around the forums and posting it other ones. I know that when I first joined, I made the mistake of posting too many new threads.

Get the hang of the JC before you go off making threads.
