beezel, I'm aware of all those models. You have to know your audience, and dammit if Anakinsfan isn't the perfect owner of an Audi TT cabriolet. I'm guessing red or black, as they're badass colours; but I could also see gunmetal grey.

Love Chevelles. They are what I think of when I think of classic muscle cars, the perfect muscle car.

In regards to the Audi: it still looks very contemporary. It's something that midsize luxury sedans haven't really changed much since then; although I do like some of what BMW has been doing of late, even they're not making very drastic changes.

Speaking of contemporary BMW, the recent M6 redesign is quite nice:

The Six series is the worst thing Bmw has done. Its an ugly beast. The take a knife to the five series and cut off a few inches and are calling it a whole new vehicle. Trust me, the five series and the six share practically everything. Most the big car lines share everything and call it a different model. As long as the lease rates are fabulous they sell cars. Oh and the One series is a rebadged smaller three series from the time when bmws were cool. At the shop we nicknamed the new BMWs the New IROC. btw, Audi is beginning to copy BMW but at least they are not as gaudy. They still have some boldness to them.

What you guys don't realize that most luxury brands that have a cheaper cousin actually use the cheaper cousins platform and add stiffer suspension and leather and nav to make it look upscale. Most the audis are rebadged VWs or share a lot in common the exception being the larger cars share maybe a base engine and some brakes but that's about it. The formula is the same for all manufacturers. BMW and mini are even getting into the act. Mini use to use a Chrysler/Mitsuibishi engine as the original mini engine in 02. The switched over to BMW engines a few years ago. That is why the cooper works edition doesn't include an upgraded super charger like the old ones.
There are some exception to the rules, namely Jaguar, Land Rover technically benz but they don't sell the cheap stuff in America. Oh and Jaguar shares some engines with a few other companies to offset costs. For example the four cylinder is borrowed from Ford both gas and diesel. The V8 and the V6 are shared with Peugot. The defender uses a ford transit motor. But all other parts are individual.

Oh and what do you think of the new Jag Ftype

I love the new Alfa. Chances are it might break down, oh, all the time... but gosh it's pretty.

Once upon a time, the Ferrari Testarossa was the peak of modern sleekness. In my mind, at least.

And the Lamborghini Countach was the beast. I find it has a timeless design that is still appealing, even though the 80s aesthetic in it is so readily apparent.

It looks good in white as well. These were the dream cars of my childhood. And for that reason, I will always have a fondness for them.

I think us 80's kids can thank Miami Vice for that. ;)

Miami Vice brought beautiful foreign cars to the masses. Before Miami Vice we had very few foreign car dealerships. Now we have so many more. So many luxury car companies as well.

There was some cool cars in that movie. Including the Mitsubishi Staria. I have seen them and they are kinda cool. Like the old A86 corrollas.

Now the only good looking GTRs are the old style ones you have a picture of.
I miss the homogalmation cars they made for Group B racing. The lancia deltas, the cosworth sierras and the Escorts. Awesome.

Although Gran Turismo opened up my eyes to a lot more of the European classics that you never see in America.

Well I also have a problem with the fact that the current GTR (which is not a Skyline) only comes in automatic. I don't know what to do without a clutch pedal. lol

Supercars have moved beyond standards due to the dual clutch technology. basically a gear is already selected before its engaged so that the shifts are seamless. It allows for faster acceleration and longer life of the transmission. Racing on a five speed transmission causes wear over time. Especially on synchros and shift forks. But with the dual clutch its easier and safer. Can't beat it.

This reminds me of another question:

What's everyone's favorite movie car? I'd say either the Aston Martin from Goldfinger (duh) or the car from Bullitt.

Oh, don't get me wrong, the Testarossa from '84 was a beautiful car... but is it prettier than the 308 GTB?

Doubt anyone has seen the movie, but this bad-ass car is in an indie movie called "Bellflower" The producer/main actor actually built the car and said he now uses it as a grocery getter.

The seventies and the eighties was about angles, the 90s and above was about curves. A 458 italia is sexy. The 308 is manly.

The movie car I have always liked is in Who am I. It was an early lancer evolution driven by Jackie Chan and a woman who was a stunt driver. The things they did with car was awesome.

Oh and second favorite was the minis from the original Italian job. Riding thru Turin like that.

I loved the Mini Coopers in the remake as well, but I'm biased since I loooove Mini Coopers in general.

The remake was, as every time Hollywood remakes a film, utterly inferior in every way*. Thou shalt not speak of the remade Italian Job, which has nothing to do with Italy ( [face_plain] ) in this thread.

(* Yes, this includes the Departed).

The only Italian Job movie didnt just have the Cooper S minis; it had Charlie Croker's 1962 Aston Martin DB4, and the opening shot of the Miura driving through the Alps. Classics, all.

I think my favourite movie car is the 1987 Aston Martin V8 from The Living Daylights. It was my first Bond film and therefore first Aston. I've seen a few of the V8s about the place and they're still an eye-catching classic.

With a strong racing pedigree established at this point, thanks in part to a wildly successful partnership with McLaren under drives Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna, Honda ventured into the supercar market with this beauty.

    The 1990 Honda NSX.

Repackaged for reasons that are idiotic and not worth exploring as the "Acura" in North America (though you call the Toyota 86 the "Scion 86" - what's wrong with you people? :p), this V6 beauty is considered one of the best exotic cars made simply due to its ongoing reliability. The Japanese, Toyota and Honda in particular, are known for build quality and the NSX was no exception.

For an additional treat, here's Senna running it for a lap around Suzuka.

Note, please, the heel-toe'ing in loafers and the technique of keeping revs up during corners.

EDIT: hadn't watched that in a while and just did; I love how he attacks Degna, controls oversteer through Spoon then flashes the popup lights during 130R. RIP Ayrton Senna. :(

So apparently the good people at Mercedes-Benz first dreamed up a car for a video game (Gran Turismo, probably my all-time favorite), then decided to make it into a real-world concept car. I'm assuming it will never actually go into production, and, to be honest, I'm not even sure I like the looks. Thoughts?
