    There's that ROTJ Theatrical Poster with Leia, Luke, Vader, Jabba, Lando, Han, Wicket, Boba Fett, the space battle, and the Emperor's Throne Room in it.

    Slimy, the theatrical Jedi poster you listed is the teaser poster, I believe. I think the first image OWTF posted is the actual theatrical release poster.

    If this wasn't from slimybug, I wouldn't bother.

    Anyway, this tread needs some discussion...

    IMO, movie "one-sheets" are interesting because they attempt to sum up the who movie with a single collage of images. Which set does this best? I would say it's the SE posters 'cause they try and fit the most in.

    I like the SE posters best too, but they had an advantage over the OE posters; they are meant to be viewed as a set, so you don't need to (for example) show Leia on all three posters or whatever.

    Also, same artist, for consistency. And etc. etc. etc.

    Rick McCallum loves you!

    Does anybody else have a real problem with the Special Edition posters not being very accurate. For instance, the ANH poster has a picture of Leia without the distinctive hairstyle she wore in that movie...it looks more like a picture of her circa ESB.

    Also, on the ESB poster there's a pic of the Emperor but really his part in the movie is tiny...and besides, it's not even the correct version of The Emperor as featured in the film.

    Then on the ROTJ poster we have a depiction of Luke battling Vader which is clearly from the Bespin Cloud City duel in the ESB!

    I realise that mentioning this is probably a little petty but still, it annoys me! [face_frustrated]

    For the record, I think that the original theatrical ESB poster is the best SW poster Ever!

    Yeah, that's always bugged me too. Although they do all look good together as a set, I still think they should represent each film properly by using imagery from those movies.

    My favorites are probably the original Star Wars one, and the top ROTJ one One-with-the-Force posted.

    Ha! Of course the original thatrical poster for ROTJ has Leia in the bikini front and center! I mean, it only makes sense for them to do that. It gets more butts in the seats.

    Does anyone else think that Obi Wan should be holding the lightsaber instead of Luke on the ANH box?

    Yes, I think that Obi-Wan should be holding the saber. I think that each dvd cover should have a different person holding a lightsaber, and be careful so that the same person isn't on a cover twice, except for Obi-Wan, because he's really the connection between the two trilogies; the constant. So, let's see if I can work out a way to do this.

    1. Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace - Qui-Gon Jinn with green lightsaber with green background.

    2. Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones - Darth Tyranus with red lightsaber with blue background.

    3. Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith - Obi-Wan Kenobi with blue lightsaber with red background.

    4. Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope - Obi-Wan Kenobi with blue lightsaber with red background.

    5. Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back - Darth Vader with red lightsaber with blue background.

    6. Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi - Luke Skywalker with green lightsaber with green background.

    I think this works the best in terms of parallels and contrasts between the movies and who's most prominently involved in the stories.

    In the VHS interviews, Lucas says that for the OT, he tried to add a different main color to each movie. ANH is very brown,TESB is very white, and TOTJ is very green. I think that if the prequels follow this pattern, than TPM is very blue, AOTC is very orange, and ROTS is very black or red. Therefore,those should be the colors of the backgrounds on the DVDs.

    Anything else?

    Yes, there are several others which haven't yet been cited, but are primarily foreign, teaser, alternate, or re-release posters. I shall post a few below:

    ANH:

    [image=http://imagecache2.allposters.com/images/MG/193177.jpg] [image=http://imagecache2.allposters.com/images/34/003_STARWARCRP.jpg] [image=http://imagecache2.allposters.com/images/34/003_STARWARDRP.jpg]

    ESB:

    [image=http://imagecache2.allposters.com/images/34/003_empireaarp.jpg] [image=http://imagecache2.allposters.com/images/153/1000888.jpg] [image=http://imagecache2.allposters.com/images/34/003_EMPIRESBRP.jpg] [image=http://imagecache2.allposters.com/images/89/003_EMPIRESCRP.jpg] [image=http://imagecache2.allposters.com/images/153/163195.jpg]

    ROTJ:

    [image=http://imagecache2.allposters.com/images/153/1099419.jpg]

    MISCELLANEOUS OTHERS (INCLUDING POLISH AND ITALIAN ANH POSTERS):

    [image=http://imagecache2.allposters.com/images/53/003_RETUR10ARP.jpg] [image=http://imagecache2.allposters.com/images/RET/rr_0044.jpg] [image=http://imagecache2.allposters.com/images/MG/199172.jpg]

    I find that, of the above images, I am most fond of the third and fourth (from the left) "Empire Strikes Back" posters; for some reason, the montages seem more cascading and natural - by containing the smaller, individual pieces of artwork within the parameters of a certain geometric positioning, we are drawn into, rather than being distracted, by the spatial nature of the overlapping images. In fact, by carefully observing those two prints, you can see where the compositing on the "Revenge of the Sith" theatrical poster went wrong.

    One of my favorite "Star Wars" prints, although it isn't displayed above, nor was it precisely a "theatrical" poster, is a limited edition "Return of the Jedi" image by the Japanese artist Noriyoshi Ohrai. It features C-3P0 and R2-D2 standing atop an elevated region as they face directly towards the observer, below what appears to be a crimson sky ablaze with celebratory activities following the destruction of the second Death Star. Positioned vertically, at either side of the central image, are two lightsaber beams, one red and the other green. Is anyone else familiar with the print in question?

    Anyways, do others have any thoughts on the images posted above?

    Man-im glad im not the only one who thinks about this kind of stuff!!!

    this may be getting a bit too saga-ish for the classic trilogy forum but i really hope when all 6 films are released in one set they have matching, updated covers

    another thing that bothers me is so far the PT covers havent featured a bad guy, only the heroes. Thats why i especially like ur idea about dooku on the AOTC poster/dvd cover.

    With they exception of Episode III, they pretty much do already match.

    [image=http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00003CX5P.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg] [image=http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P/B00005RDPR.02.LZZZZZZZ.jpg] [image=http://www.popkid.com/enhance/sw_dvd_cover001.gif] [image=http://www.bobafett.com/multimedia/video/swdvd-cover.jpg] [image=http://www.dvd.net.au/movies/s/10955.jpg]

    Still, they need to make the numbers the same color. They're gold ont he PT, and silvver on the OT.

    I don't think Obi-Wan needs to be holding the lightsaber in both trilogies. I think it should go like this:

    TPM- Qui-Gon

    AOTC- Dooku

    ROTS-Anakin

    ANH- Obi-Wan

    ESB- Vader

    ROTJ- Luke
