Pretty sure it was never even filmed.

Funny you should say that, the team was a little careless when filming the pick-up shots (the close-up shots featuring Maria De Aragon), as they used the wrong hands when re-assembling the Greedo costume (wrong vest too). The hands, I believe, belonged to the Duros costume, and didn't match the skin tone (though this isn't noticeable in the final film).

Pretty sure this one's actually from Empire, which makes it even more of a rarity, as that's David Prowse in the makeup. I wonder what the face makeup looked like at that stage.

Feast your eyes:

Quality is bad, but it's the only source to my knowledge. Some brave soul managed to film this at Star Wars Celebration Europe. The scene has been said to exist for a while from various sources, but this is the first time it was shown.

Now, is there a reason why this wasn't included on the recent Blu Ray boxset? Oh Yeah...

Seriously, it seems like they're really milking Star Wars bonus features for all they're worth. Add a few more features along the line, and fans will have to buy the next set, right?

 

What scene was this because the video is private?

 

The scene was from the Rancor pit, where Luke jumps up at the grating only for his fingers to be stamped on by those above. He then drops back down into the pit. As no-one should have been filming this at the event, I suspect that is why the video was taken down. These scenes are to be released on the digital download version of The Making Of Return Of The Jedi book.

 

I think I still have the trading card that depicts this somewhere.

 

The Return of the Jedi storybook had at least one photo showing Luke hanging from the grating.

 

^Yes, that's right. The footage of this scene, was in black and white and was intercut with what looks like King Kong (1976) taking the place of the Rancor.

 

I've always wanted to see the lost "sand storm" scene. There's pictures of it floating around online, but I've never seen any video. Has anyone else?

 

I wonder if "King Kong" was the originally planned rancor-as-man-in-a-suit. They changed that up because it looked ridiculous, and I can see why.

In fact I can see why the scene was cut in general. It kind of breaks up the flow of the fight and, even without the rancor, doesn't look too well on screen.

 

That is on the bluray. It is fantastic.
