what is this? I know its from Jedi but what the heck is it! I never seen a light up alien like that
That was an experimental concept that didn't work on film and was cut. I believe it was supposed to be some kind of ghostly energy being.
From T-Bone's site:
Interesting - I thought I knew everything there was to know about the OT films, and this pic. is the first time I've heard anything about this "lightman". Seeing that the effects weren't that convincing, I can see why it was cut...
Been a Star Wars fan from that start and its amazing to me how i can still find something new that i didn't know
Oh, Lightman... I'd love to see the concept art for that guy. I heard that the plan was add the effect of the creature afterwards (similar to Jabba); the onset actor provided the unique light source of the alien. Unless I'm wrong and they actually DID intend for the character to look like that.
Seemed like a decent project for the Special Edition, but I'm sure the scene in question was actually replaced for the theatrical cut.
Not really a rare photo but didn't want to make a whole new post. Anyone ever noticed this "Ghost" in the falcon?
Yeah, that's been around for a while - it's obviously a brief glimpse of Obi-Wan Kenobi that was missed, but it's fun to speculate that it's actually Qui-Gon Jinn or a Shaman of the Whills keeping an eye on things. Or perhaps a fugitive Jedi stowing away on the Falcon.
I remember reading about that years ago in a circa-SE list of bloopers in Star Wars. I'm surprised it was never edited out in all the edits since.
Meh, proper bloopers aren't something that should ever be wiped out of existence. There was a rumour that the stormtrooper bumping his head was going to be 'corrected' - fortunately, GL decided to have a sense of humour about it and referenced it directly in AOTC instead, when Jango banged his head on the door to Slave 1.
Mr. Lucas without the beard!!
Dear Lord NO.
George, put your beard back on!
It's like seeing him naked...
C-3PO going through his lines i Guess?
A user just posted the following video clip in the Episode VII forum:
I've never seen it before, and it has me very intrigued. Does anyone know anything else about this scrapped creature? Or, at least, what documentary/bonus feature this clip was taken from?
Wow! I've no idea where the clip is from, it's not on any of the docos I've seen, would have definitely remembered it.
Merging with the stickied pics & footage thread, there's a pic and link regarding the light creature at the top of page 8.
Thanks for moving, figured it didn't warrant it's own thread but this topic slipped my mind
Now I feel like checking up on the Blu-ray features again and checking to see if it's on those, but I really don't think so. Really wish I knew where this was from; I'd love to see it in better quality.
Edit: Oh, hey, there's a pic of this guy at the top of this very page that I missed
Here's what little information Wookieepedia has. Unfortunately, it's not much, and if the Wook doesn't have anything else, it's a safe bet no one else does.
Thanks for your help, guys. Always love discovering little things like this Hope to see more some day.
Couldn't edit my post for some reason, but I found this.
Turns out it is on the Blu-ray. Definitely gonna have to rewatch those features.
Light man looks like a self-illuminating Slenderman.
Is this two R2-D2 units? I never noticed this before
Tarkin (in slippers) gets ready for this next scene
I've never seen a Cushing in slippers pic before. That's a great find!
I found a great Twitter account called Rare Star Wars Stuff
Isn't that a wipe? Or was that the joke?
