I wanna know how LOTR beat SW to be #1. I loved LOTR but it in no WAY Has a better score than Star Wars!!!

And why is Superman so low?!?!?!?! That is crap!!!! JOhn Williams' Superman music is pure genious. How can they say that Gladiator, Braveheart, Harry Potter, and Out of Africa are all better scores than Superman?????

    What a jip.

    I'll tell you why.

Because LOTR fanboy sites caught wind of the poll and told them to all post that LOTR is best, when they have absolutely no idea. I should think, if this never happened, it would never have gotten into the top 30.

So in my mind, Star Wars won and everything shifts up a place. Still, the voters are obviously naive anyway, since Gladiator and other lame efforts came pretty high compared to clear winners (Superman, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park).

Oh, the delicious irony of that comment.

    Nice call, Elfstar!

and I thought that Gladiator was pretty amazing, especially from an analysis POV.

Gladiator is an interesting score. I'm not sure it deserves to be in the top ten, but it's definitely a good score.

Ugh! It seems they voted off of popularity of the film(LOTR) instead of quality of score, ROTJ should have been first!!

Now, I've had enough of most people naming every single Star Wars score in the
top ten. In fact, I'm sick of John Williams being listed at the top and eminently better
composers being relegated to bottom feeding status. Based solely upon the
originality of the work, the quality of the score, and how well it fit the film, the top
composers and their greatest works are as follows (in no particular order):

John Barry - Out of Africa
Bernard Herrmann - North by Northwest
Elmer Bernstein - To Kill a Mocking Bird (or The Magnificent Seven)
Max Steiner - Gone With the Wind
    Franz Waxman - Taras Bulba
    Leonard Bernstein - Westside Story
    John Williams - E.T.
    Jerry Goldsmith - Legend
Danny Elfman - A Simple Plan (or Men in Black)
Alan Silvestri - Back to the Future
    David Arnold - Stargate
