    I wish we could turn Benae into a little action figure in this costume. That'd be cool. :)

    Can anyone recommend an easy pattern for the dark pinkish dress Padme wears under her red cloak? The outfit doesn't look very complicated so I thought I'd try it for my second attempt at a costume but I'm kind of inexperienced at sewing & don't feel comfortable working without a pattern. I might sew it together upside down or something. :)

    I made this one too a while back :) YOu can see it here in the RL photo from C3 (between hoth Leia and gorgette Padme).
    [image=http://www.bobafettmp.com/celebration3/day2/images/IMG_2518.JPG]
    I can't remember off the top of my head what pattern I used, but it was a simple dress with long sleeves. I just cut the front to have the peice in the middle and made the sleeves pointed on the ends. I got confused for a handmaiden at the shoot LOL. I'm going to eventually embroider on the Naboo symbol somewhere, still deciding where though.
    Another picture (before it was hemmed and the brooch made)

    Here's my brooch that goes with it (made from sculpy, and treated with gold rub n buff and clear coat)

    Thank you Benae_Quee! Is the dress very fitted at the waist? Did you have to get extra fabric for the middle section? Is the cloak velvet? (My husband can't stand the feel of velvet.) Do you think I could make the cloak of a silky material or would that look too different?

    The joys of costuming off a cartoon, are that there are no limitations really on what fabrics you can and can't use :) I used velvet because I love it and because the movie costumes tend to have a lot of velvet and silk in them. I'd stay away from anything really shiney for the cloak though, I don't think it would look the best. Maybe if you lined it with a silk, and made the cloak from a finer wool, or a woven material - like Jedi robe material? When making a costume, I tend to ignore my fiance ;) If I like a material, and it works for the costume, I use it :) He's not the one wearing it ;)
    For the dress, I just used a simple dress pattern (like this one - the dark blue dress) and made the middle peice myself. It is fitted at the waist a bit more, but I didn't make it that way (dress form was sized too big at the time - oops). For the RL photo I just grabbed a bunch of fabric in the back until it formed the right way in the front and pinned it in place (its covered by the cloak anyway). I'm too lazy now to fix it for good, but when I move I'll get around to it :D I also lengthened the bottom and made the sleeves pointed at the wrist.
    Here's my Making of page, or at least what I could remember from it
    http://imageevent.com/benaequee/costumes/redsorrow
    When I stood for the RL picture I simply placed the cloak behind my legs a bit to get it to flow like the cartoon one.

    If you want the Snow Bunny Padme becomes a 12" Figure from Sideshow, go ahead and vote for her:

    Collector's Choice Poll

    Then we may have another source of Costumes References.

    If not :D

    Here's a little drawing I made to show the shape of the cape :)

    [image=http://photos.imageevent.com/benaequee/costumes/snowbunny/SnowbunnyDrawing2.jpg]

    You'll notice I don't keep the cape closed with the ties, they're just there for decoration. I use a hook and eye instead - much easier to do, and more secure :D

    Mine ended up about 5/8 - 3/4 circle I think as I want it to be more cosy. :p I drafted half of it on Majong/Brown Paper and cut the cloth on the fold.

    The hood was taken from one of my Robe Patterns. I just make it less big (height wise for mine) and make sure the part that will be attach to the neck of the cloak is wide enough for the length on the cloak.

    I had the same problem with my search for boots (big feet), but I held on and finally got a great pair for about $35.

    Try searching "white Boots #". Replace the '#' sign with your size, so when I searched, I searched as "white boots 10", this way I didn't have to filter through the listings I didn't need/want. Hope this helps you :)

    My Boots
    [image=http://photos.imageevent.com/benaequee/costumes/snowbunny/websize/Snowbunny%20Boot.jpg]
    These were listed as 'Scrunched' style boots, but when I got them in, I was able to un-scrunch them and they are perfect (also very comfy). These also work double duty as excellent Leia boots ;)

    I just got in my velvet for the Purple Ilum dress :D It took me a few months of searching/waiting, but its the perfect color that I wanted :)

    *If anyone is intersted, I have a listing for a custom made Snow Bunny Cloak on eBay, pretty reasonable considering the amount of hand sewing that is required :D

    QA, I love the color of your feathers :). I was at a leather shop in NYC and they had fur boas (Rabbit I think) that would work great for the snowbunny too, BUT... they were $30 each (and only about 3 feet long). I guess if I really wanted to splurge one day, I could, but it would be about a $180 splurge lol.

    I got great swatches in for the skirt and triangles on the Purple Ilum dress :D Now to see if I can find the same colors for less money here hehe.

    My cat and a close up of the feathers ( I just had to post a phtot of her)

    And this is just interesting more proof that the people who produced the CW cartoon new more about REvenge of the Sith then we did. This is from the Art of ROTS looks familar doesn't it.

    That looks fantastic, Queen_Apailana! It's just like the one in the cartoon. Cute kitty too. :)
    The picture from the Art of ROTS is interesting. Makes me wonder how much influence the movie & the cartoon had on each other.

    Just finished my Snowbunny costume--thanks Benae for the tutorial=D= . I followed your cape design and all turned out great! I chose to line mine in an ice blue thin cotton I stumbled upon at Wal-Mart by accident ($1 a yard!) that matches the trim. Even my mom was impressed that I didn't need a pattern (she's the gifted seamstress, not me). Now I'm just waiting for my boots to arrive from ebay. Can't wait to wear it at D*C!!!
    Oh, yea...what should one wear under the white bodysuit? A flesh toned undergarment of some sort? Haven't quite figured out how to solve the under garment issue..[face_worried]
