The Toys R Us on Grape is opening at 12:01am on Saturday, July 26 for the new Clone Wars stuff.
There's a 4 minute clip from the upcoming film on YouTube. If this is any indication of the rest of the movie, this movie could turn out to be a huge surprise (in a very good way).
Who is going to see the movie?
Are we going as a group?
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that we're all going to go see it? Even though I have some serious misgivings, with the new commercials out on tv (a baby hutt? Really??)
Though when is interesting. I'm going to say that I will probably have to go see it at midnight. that's just a guess, though.
Has anyone heard for sure that there is a midnight show? I have been watching the listings here in Sioux Falls but nothing has come up so far (midnight or otherwise).
I haven't seen anything, but at the same time, there was a midnight show here for Sex and the City and Mamma Mia! so not doing one for this movie seems kinda odd, you know?
Agreed, although those two films will be among the leading contenders for Best Picture next year....
my vote would be for a saturday matinee.
Can we draw-out VIO for a group viewing?
Just purchased my tix for the midnight show out here!
I get more excited about this movie with every new video clip I see. Speaking of which, a new one was just posted on the Official Site. Great background on Ahsoka. I am really looking forward to this. I know some people are down on it because it's a cartoon, but I don't really get that - it's like this one isn't "real" (as if the other movies were all documentaries, and now this one is a fictional work or something). Story and character development are what make a movie good for me, and some of the live action SW movies (especially AOTC) were really lacking in that department. I think this movie has the potential to surprise some people, especially at the box office.
ref ...down on this as a cartoon....
Well then, let's call it animation!
and with all the CGI out there now adays,
even the latest Batman, seems like more
animation than most.
Just tell me a good story and I am happy,
you know, the old fashioned kind that start out,
Once Upon A Time...........
I know of many midnight showings, and also of many theatres,
still debating this......not only in Chicago land, but in Indiana as well.
Usually, advanced ticket sales and lines outside of box offices,
have some kind of influence on this
As for me, I have nothing happening at all as I have a
strange commitment to keep at this time.
I will know more after the 7-th.
I am invited many places, but the home life is ruling things for now.
and where I originally thought I might end up, may not have a
also, the 15-th, is my Brother's birtday,
which is kinda fun, cause I am the older brother,
and he is kinda the Clone
That would work out best for me also as long as it is the latest show as I have a work picnic till around 3:30-4.
So, are we looking at going as a group on Saturday the 16th, after 4:30p at Showplace 16?
Another new video was posted on the Official Site on Aug 8.
11 Reasons I didn't hate the Prequel Trilogy:
Tonight's the night!!! I am still planning on attending the midnight show and will post my review here as soon as I get back, if anyone is interested.
FYI, yet another video (Villains) as been posted on the Official Site.
OK, here's my take - moderate spoilers, be warned:
Starts out with no opening scroll. In place of the scroll is an old "newsreel" type narration of recent events (basically, Jabba's son has been kidnapped). From then on it is nearly nonstop action.
- Ahsoka Tano - good character, nice compliment to Anakin
- animation, especially battle scenes (but the style might not appeal to everyone)
- does a good job of starting to flesh out the clones as characters (esp. Capt. Rex)
- finally shows the brotherly relationship between Anakin and Obi-Wan that has always been discussed, but never realized on screen (IMHO)
- Jabba's Basic-speaking uncle on Coruscant - sounds like Will Sasso's Kenny Rogers. Really falls flat, along with the jazzy intro music leading into the character's first scene (although points added for having Bith musicians play it)
- hard to get into the fact that it is an animated Star Wars film - I don't think I ever got past that, although that is probably just because it is such a new way of seeing the SW universe (we'll see how it wears with repeated viewings)
Overall, I would rate it the movie as "good". Good story, lots and lots of action, with probably a few too many jokes about inept battle droids. The characters are good, although character development is a little light (probably since all are old favorites, minus Ahsoka). As the series moves to TV, I hope to see the characters get fleshed out a little more (as happened with ESB compared to ANH).
Final grade: B-
Is anyone going Saturday afternoon? The times at Showplace 16 are:
4:50 PM ? 5:20 PM ? 6:30 PM ? 7:30 PM
The shows before 6 are $6. I will be there with my two boys, anyone else?
I'm taking my son and my nephew. We'll be at the 5:20p show at Showplace 16.
I know you guys can/will discuss your opinions among yourselves after seeing it, but let me know what you think, I'm much interested.
Hope to see it soon, but this past week has been filled with "what if-s"
I have seen on TV, "G4"
Celepbration Japan (90-minutes worth)
and saw even more "Clone Wars" clips and stuff on that.
along with GL, looking very much like "Jabba The Hut"
pointing out his artistic vision.
But, I can tell you this_____no problem with it being animated.
worried about the story-line, the music, and character development.
Mace Windu animation
Zero the hut
The youngling was overpowered.
Very little focus on the clones, mostly on the Jedi.
Yeah, so what was with that Hutt in the city? A little unisex thing going on there.
i thought the uncle was a female..
2 1/2 stars
OK, who has not seen it yet.
I have just seen it, and am thinking of
writting a review, but do not want to worry about
if what I write is a spoiler or not.
but, I will say______Lucas has lost it_____
Not only is this evident in the Clone Wars film,
also in recent footage about the Clone Wars film
that I saw on G4 as a part of a 90 minute presentation
about the Celebration in Japan.
He really looked bad, like he needs to be in a 12-step program
of some kind.
