DFW, TX Clones...Reformatted for IMAX!!!

This holiday season, Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones will be bigger than ever. Lucasfilm Ltd., The IMAX Corporation and Twentieth Century Fox have announced that Episode II will be coming to IMAX theaters in the United States and Canada starting November 1, 2002.

This is not just the projection of the standard theatrical print on an IMAX screen -- the movie will undergo the revolutionary IMAX DMR (Digital Re-mastering) process, which enhances the quality of the image and soundtrack to the huge IMAX 15/70 format. This marks the first time IMAX DMR has been used to re-master a film that was digitally captured and created.

Ah, yes...after the so/so LOTR IMAX experience, I'm ready for a film that will make full use of the larger-than-life screen and bone-rattling sound system!

it says it will be all remastered and such, but they are usually just a 35mm print blown up TOOOOO BIG.

i'll bet the sound will be good.

 

Well, the technical stuff sounds like they're digitally doing everything to make a real IMAX movie, so I really can't wait!

And Mike, yeah, you called it. I just figured that they would fold on this just like they did with Ep. I.

There have been murmurings in the SW "clique" at school.. whispers of a power growing in the west.. a power undeniable to the chosen ones.

In plain English, be prepared; we're trying to re-organize the 20 of us that went to see AotC opening day. Nearly two dozen excited 15 year olds.. watch out.

Hey y'all..

there's a thread down on the Houston FF forum about this... you folks in Dallas may be TX's only hope for AOTC in IMAX... most TX Imax theaters do not have the proper equipment to show more than 90 minutes of film.

No Imax reel unit holds more than 120 minutes. The Apollo 13 for Imax has been cut as well.

Has it been confirmed that Dallas well get IMAX Clones?

TF.N is saying some cities will not be showing at all for alot of different reasons.

 

So far no where in Texas is playing the AOTC on Imax.

 

It's looking more and more like the Cinemark 17 IMAX is the only place in Texas that's getting it. Confirmation should be coming any day now.

Great news! The Cinemark 17 has confirmed AOTC on the IMAX!!!

Well, see, it's like this. By cutting 23 minutes of footage out of it, it became a new movie. So they had to change the name. And of course, they wanted it to still be recognizable to the original name, so they just made some minor modifications. Hence, it's now "AttacH of the Clones".


Of course, "Attachment is... FOR-bidden!!"

 

Count me in!! I'm going! This is going to be great! Nov 1st is a friday, 3weeks!
