Reading is best. As for the film I mentioned, the book is better, yet the film is good. Full of beauty and wonder and color. Entirely undeserving of the vitriolic, negative reviews which have no value whatsoever.

It is unlike the book though...

I don't know as much about him as you do, my brother.

His Alice books have been remade as films multiple times. The question is, would he have liked any of them?

Even the beloved Disney animated classic combines/rearranges and omits over half of the tales/episodes from the books.

But, to answer your question, no. I do not think LC would like the two most recent Disney film versions of the Alice stories, since everything has been completely rewritten and has little to do with the original stories at all. Or perhaps he would like them for that very reason? I dunno.

I think you are spot on,

he was even particular about illustrations that went into the original books, so God only knows what he'd think of any adaptation

I still recommend you see the new Disney versions of the Alice books.
Mia does excellent work and is by far and away the strongest, most self reliant and powerful Alice ever portrayed thus far. Her characterization is inspiring, brave, loyal and defiant.

And the story is interesting enough for fans of the books.
Plus, Alan Rickman is in both films and J. Depp is great as the Hatter. Excellent DE music and a lot of creativity overall. Costumes, CGI, fantastical characters, etc...

As to whether LC would like those films...

3:33 AM and not a second of sleep.

 

Morning.

 

I did something dumb. I drank heavily last night... while I'd eaten next to nothing for a day. The beer put me to sleep at a respectable time, at least. For once. But I woke up in the middle of the night needing to pee like a race horse. Went back to sleep, and when I woke up at dawn? Had to piss like an athletic camel.

Thus flushing out most of what few electrolytes left in my system.

Our cash is extremely low at the moment. Nothing to eat but saltines and peanut butter. Shaking and barely able to stand, I gobbled some down and then collapsed on the couch where I lazed about like a corpse for about half an hour. I craved a candy bar. A cappucino, too. Needed to absorb sugar, chocolate, texture and flavors.

I scrounge together all the change I can, and limp my way to the convenience store, probably looking like Melisandre in crone form.

Had to leave the candy bar behind. Didn't have enough change. Got the cappucino, though. Ah well. We get paid this afternoon, then I might have my Whatchamacallit.

 

did not sleep well

suicide squad, it was pretty good. i felt bad for harley, although maybe she wanted to be that way

 

I slept like a log, though I didn't make it to bed til like 2am. Soooo.... still tired.

*revs up the Keurig*

 

oh here's another interesting thing that happened people. i had a swarm of bees in a tree, about 25 feet up. i had to call a bee exterminator a couple years ago too. but this time i hoped the bees would move on. plus i didn't want to spend the $$. so i went for a walk last night in the park and on the way back i heard a buzzing sound. i looked up and a swarm of bees were flying about 10 feet over my head. i thought i hope those are the ones that were at home. they were ! so bees not dead and not here.

 

Thanks. Had a bit of a headache before, but it's cleared up now.

JEDI-RISING Well that's good news. The world is sorta running out of bees lately, which is a very bad thing. Best to leave them alive when possible.

And I'm happy you didn't have to kill the bees. I like bees. They are essential for the Earth.
