That's the important thing. If it were sealed (and sealed well) then peanut butter tends to have at least a couple years extra on its edible life (if I remember correctly). But if it was opened, I would not eat it. Too risky.

This...this x1000. I have seen some bad cases of food poisoning, and peanut butter that has been open for (nearly) two years after its expiration date is bad ju-ju.
