PT Club Jocasta: Going back to the stacks

Hello fellow nerds!



The next book club poll is upon us and we are cycling through the options. As a note, if there is a book you would like us to include on the next poll, let us know. For now the list includes:

Yoda: Dark Rendezvous by Sean Stewart
I will never not mention that this book's claim to fame is a slashy tumblr post. This novel is set in the Clone Wars time period and involves Yoda maybe breaking bad but not really.
(As an aside, the cover image of Dooku cracks me up. I would love to guess what Christopher Lee is thinking.)



Ahsoka by EK Johnston
This novel just came out and is garnering all sorts of praise. It follows the story of Ahsoka after the execution of Order 66 and discusses how she becomes a Rebel. Based on reviews this novel should serve up the Space Soapiness we have come to love in our Star Wars.



Shatterpoint by Matt Stover
If you've ever wanted to see Mace Windu be a total Samuel L. Jackson-esque action hero, this is the book for you. This book was written by Matt Stover but is a very different offering from his ROTS novelization. Here we travel in a Heart of Darkness-y way through Master Windu's home planet as he races to save his former padawan from the Dark Side.



Dark Disciple by Christie Golden
This is another New Canon book on the official timeline. Basically, the Jedi are going to team up to defeat Dooku. It also fills in some of the holes left over from canceling The Clone Wars.

Ahsoka.. no question there. Still waiting for my copy to ship from Amazon otherwise I would have read it by now.

 

I already read the Ahsoka one this week but I'd totally stop in to ramble about it. OH THE SPACE FAMILY.

I'm also hoping for Ahsoka. I have it in my kindle app already.

 

Sepra Oh, crap. When I saw that Ahsoka was on here, I knew Shatterpoint wouldn't stand a chance.

 

So like, I wish, but I don't have access to SW books but IF I were part of the club, I'd say Ahsoka or Shatterpoint.

I went with Ahsoka mostly because I'm currently trying to read it

 

You'd pick Shatterpoint, damn it!

 

We'll get to Shatterpoint eventually, but I do think that it's a good time to read Ahsoka since it just came out.

 

OK, honestly, I was just looking for an opportunity to use that meme.

 

I'm going to read it this weekend, I've already begun it, but I'm sure there will be a lot of different perspectives and things people are able to tease out so I'm excited to start.

The poll ends Sunday so I'm chomping at the bit a little TBH.

But meh, I wasn't as enthused about Plagueis. Even now I struggled to get through it although I found the thread itself to be interesting!
