At the last meeting we proposed having a club outing to see One Man Star Wars on a Friday night in December. The top choice was December 16, but December 2 and December 9 are also available. In any case, the show is at 8 PM. Would anyone with experience at this sort of thing like to comment on what time we ought to get there to watch an 8 PM show? The theater is at 130 W 44th Street, which is about 15 minutes from Penn Station walking at a reasonable pace.

Just to clarify, we intend to watch this as normal attendees. This is not a costumed event and you should not expect to get in for free. Tickets will run us about $50 per person -- someone correct me if I'm wrong about this.

Please rank your choices for the date, i.e. put your favorite date as number 1. My vote is:

    1. December 16
    2. December 9
    3. December 2

I can only make Friday Dec 16. I thought this was
the date that everyone agreed on? I am working on
Dec 2 & 6 and wont be able to go =0(

BTW, in Newsday they printed tixx were $39.00 each.

Yeah, tickets definitely aren't $50.

Well, MEPA has their trip to Boston the 17th, so whoever's going to that AND wants to see the OMSWS on the 16th should allow for sleep deprivation. :p So I guess I'd personally vote for the 9th, but any date is technically ok for me. I don't sleep much on a regular basis now anyway. [face_tired] I-)

Um, people are led in to be seated starting at 7:30, and before that they're escorted to a big waiting room that doubles as a sort of cafeteria in the back on the first floor. If you bought your tickets in advance you don't need to show up any earlier than that. The show never truly sells out every seat in the house, and the theater is TINY, so you can probably safely buy tickets that night, because even if you're sitting at the back or sides of the house you have a clear view.

I wasnt at the last meeting to hear the discussion on this, but why arent we doing this event in costume? We can get in for free and have an opportunity to costume. I think Moriah said they even allow us to bring along 6 non-costume club members.
Is costuming still up for consideration? --BIlly

I say December 16th because that is the day I thought we agreed on.

Sleep? You can sleep on the bus!

The costuming is totally up to you guys. I'm cool either way, because it's not a hard gig to do. And yes, we can technically bring 6 non-costumers in, but we have to email Charlie first and let him know in advance, not just show up that night.

Now, if I can just remember his email...

But anyway...yeah. Doesn't matter to me.

    Hmmm,

I'd really like to see this. If non-costumers can go then I suppose I would go. I just wouldn't want to be the only one of us not in costume.

I see hardly anyone has actually replied with date preferences. I suppose at this point December 2nd (tomorrow) is basically out.

Billy: The costumed approach to this isn't happening because nobody is making it happen. I proposed the non-costumed alternative because it should be more easy to accomplish. Getting everybody together at 7 PM on a Friday night to grab a quick bite to eat and then rush over to the theater is much easier than getting everyone together with costumes early enough to be effective. Still, if anyone wants to put together a costumed event, please go for it. As always, you'll have my full support.

It turns out that work has stolen away my weekend of the 16-18, so I can't make that date any longer (or go to Boston, for that matter). As such, my top choice is Dec 9 (next Friday, week from tomorrow) but at the moment I'm out-voted.

I asked (1) who is interested and (2) which of the proposed Fridays (9th or 16th) is good for you. We've only gotten a couple of replies. Is nobody else interested? (As Achilles might say, "Is there no one else?") If things stand as they are then maybe a half-dozen of us will go see the show on Friday the 16th. This is fine, of course (other than the part about me not being there); I'd just be surprised if nobody else wanted to join in.

As my good pal Jar Jar would say ...

    "HELLO BOYOS!!!"

OK - looks like a non-costume thing ... the 16th is likely for me. The 9th may be possible but the thing is I work at the bar too and I may not be able to find someone to switch nights with me considering it's a week away.

When you work at a bar there is no CALLING IN or REQUESTING OFF. There is only GET YOUR OWN COVERAGE OR FIND A NEW JOB! So it's tough to say with absolute certainty but the 16th is far enough away where I can call a few guys to cover.

Food n Star Wars? The question is, where do I sign up?!

I'll check back every day to see if/when we have a date nailed down.

    TTYL comrades!

    Hey gang,
This is a very busy time for me at work.I wouldn't be able to make it on either date.I've never seen it(I regret not checking it out at C3)and really want to.I really wouldn't be able to see it until close to the holidays,so I'll probably see it by myself before it closes because who knows when or if it will come back to NYC?

Yeah, hurry up and see it, Chris, because it closes on Dec. 31st. Then next year perhaps around Feb. the LOTR show starts.

It seems that fate has something against me watching this show. Now I can't make the evening of the 9th either.

For those of you keeping score, you already know that one of my company's big clients wants to deploy a new trading system on Monday the 19th, basically a week before Christmas, instead of waiting for next year. Apparently this gives them some sort of tax advantage. They want us over in Pittsburgh the weekend before (16-18) to make sure setup goes smoothly. This is what stole my opportunity to make the 16th (or go to Boston that weekend).

Well, now they've discovered that they're falling behind on their end of the work, so they want us to be on-site (in lovely Pittsburgh again) this week. I'll be flying back Friday night, arriving in La Guardia at 9 PM. As such, there is no hope for me making an 8 PM show in Manhattan.

And that's that. I hope you guys have a good time. Chris, when you figure out what days you can go, let me know...

Sorry for the whining. I'm just rather annoyed about all this.

    Okay guys,
It looks like December 16 or particularly Fridays arent working for alot of us. I can't make it then and would still like to see the show - and I prefer costuming (which doesnt mean non costumers cant go, we just stand around and hang out anyway).
So Ive organized the AeroSith costumers to attend on Tuesday December 27. Anyone else who would like to join us is very welcome.
If you guys doing Friday the 16th want to change to that date, do so or do both.
Moriah, can you make it and can you make contact with Charlie for us?

PS - I hear one of us are debuting a new Sith costume. Would he / she like to announce it here? Or will people have to come to the One Man Star Wars event to find out? --Billy

Ok, I'll do my best to see if I can contact Charlie. But I would need a pretty definite head count of who needs spare tickets. Will we need all 6?

And yes, I can make it on a Tuesday night--I work directly crosstown from Times Square. I can just trot on over from my office.

Sounds great Moriah. Triss is most likely a non-costumer for that night. Anyone else??
Mention to Charlie how many costumers we may have. So far we have Chris (Trooper), Billy (EMP), Ark (Ana), Moriah (Leia), maybe Steven (Maul) any other costumers? --Billy

Would Dana be coming? (In that case I'd be Mara or a Jedi.) How about Kenny, Dan, Tim, and Rob? Robbie's family?

Lucky for me Charlie's email is right on his website. (And it's a no-brainer...I'm an idiot. :p )

I know you guys were interested in seeing this show, well... you can see it an hep out Toys for Tots at the same time :)

    Okay, so here we go...

    December 16 at 7pm
    One Man Star Wars Show
    Lambs Theater

Anu and I went out to TRU and talked with the person in charge of events. She was gracious and has offered to have TRU donate to the toy drive. Unfortunately we can't have the drive IN TRU becuase they have their own thing that they do seperately. HOWEVER, Dan from the OMSWS has offered to let us have the event in the theater Friday night (more people attend the show Friday nights).

    The Game Plan:
Get to the theater at about 5pm and start handing out fliers for the toy drive to passersby in Times Square. The fliers will be great to hand out in front of TRU with suggested donations ranging from $5-$20 (Anu and I will be making a list this week), plus with the show times and ticket prices. People can then buy a toy and drop it off with us for the drive.
I would love to have Santa Vader with a bag to collect toys (with the Jedi or troopers as 'elves'). Inside the theater it will be a toy donation or $5 to get your picture with Santa Vader and the 'elves'. If I can't get Santa Vader, thats alright. I would like to have the jedi with Santa hats on though :) Curly toed shoes are optional ;) I''ll buy some Candy canes that we can hand out as well.

If you are interested and can make it please tell me if you can come early at 5pm, or later for the show at 7pm. Please Email me (jedi_master_benae_quee@yahoo.com) to confirm, don't just post in the thread, its easier for me to compile a database by email.

Also let me know which costume you plan to wear.

Well its not looking good for costuming on 12/16. Rob Kaos needs some way of getting his armor into the city if he was to do it and Dana hasnt been checking the boards or reading this thread in a few days, so I dont know if she's interested.

So I think I will be sticking with the 27th for a One Man Star Wars costuming event.
Sorry it cant work out with at least some of us. --Billy

Okay Dana so figure 12/16 is a non-costume day for you guys and the 27th will be the costumer day. We should have a good turnout.
Moriah since youve been leading this outing, when you go on 12/16 maybe you can tell the people in charge about our proposed event on 12/27? --Billy
