ST Clues from concept art?

I didn't think the Sith Witch concept was abandoned didn't it just evolve into Mother Talzin from Clone Wars?

 

The inquisitor's TIE has the cockpit of Vader's TIE and wings similar to those of Maul's ship. Both McQuarrie and Chiang elements are there. I suspect we will see a more refined version of this for E7.

 

What was Maul's ship called again?

 

Sith Infiltrator, I think.

I still don't like the design of that ship. Why put the solar panels only on the inside of the wings?

 

It really does just look like the Infiltrator's panels slapped on Vader's ship.

Hoping for something more refined in E7.

 

Weren't these concept designs? These are transitionary designs. Its like comparing an M48 tank to a Abrams. This was likely then an earlier iteration that had its solar panels corrected in latter versions.

 

Talzin was specifically culled from an Iain McCaig concept of a female Sith warrior. So the answer is yes….from a certain point of view.

But there is still plenty of room for other designs if that is the route they go. In fact, one of McCaig's designs George thought was way too frightening. It looked like a Raggedy Anne zombie.

 

Yeah but a child could tell you that if you block the light then you can't generate much power. I guess we can probably figure out what happens to the Inquisitor huh? He gets blown to bits when his ship stalls out in a deep space battle.

 

Kinda makes sense that the Inquisitor's TIE is a cross between Vader's and Maul's ship, as Rebels is a bridge between the PT and the OT. He's kind of a PT-esque character in terms of design: he's a Pau'an (which we were introduced to in ROTS), he has tattoos and a double bladed lightsaber like Maul, and yet he's surrounded by an OT Imperial aesthetic. I'm looking forward to seeing how else Rebels bridges the two trilogies in terms of design.

 

maybe it uses different propulsion systems. they're going design over function so they can use concept art stuff.

 

I like that idea of using old concept art but you have wonder if there were reasons a lot of these concepts were modified or thrown out. A lot of them just didn't make sense.
