A parody of the big time news programs (like, you guessed it, CNN) which screens on the ABC at 8.30pm Thursdays, I find it to be an absolute gem. It is refreshing and very funny, entailing very bizare, random moments to ballsy political stunts that are downright honest and all in good fun.

    Anyone seen the show?

Yeah, I've seen it. The biggest problem is that I spend more time reading the scrolling text at the bottom of the screen than actually watching the show

"Howard government reverses all of its policies after a convincing student protest"

"McDonalds New Tatse menu creates unprecendented demand for Old Tatste menu."

This show is absolutely priceless. I loved how a couple of weeks ago they were all wearing ribbons in support of war, and there were news items about sudden outbreaks of peace, including the one that had me in stitches: "The sudden outbreak of peace in the middle east is threatening to derail everything the Israli government has been working on for the last 20 years."

    :D

CNNN is the only real highlight in the tv schedule.

Some moments that I really loved:
    • The Realtime channels coverage of "Glacial Action"
    • Obese kids that spread germs and then go on welfare
    • Newsbar - Childhood terrorist throws paper plane into building

    Champagne comedy!

Who else watched The Election Chaser last year, done by the same guys? I only saw the last 2 episodes, but that was hillarious as well.

Yeah, the election chaser was the same guys... They have a a newspaper as well, when you read that on a regular basis, the show is kinda boring and repetative...

Sure, it was a bit repetitive a couple of weeks ago but last week it really picked up (and thankfully didn't pick up on the Bali tradegy - their coverage of S-11, while very funny, was probably a bit harsh!). Besides RP, I recall you didn't catch the recent couple of episodes?

Anyway, the newspapers great...I've just got to subscribe. The Election Chaser was a hoot!

    I love the faux taglines:
"We bring you more war than any other network!"
"CNNN: We report, You believe." - if you've ever tried to watch FoxNews, you'll see how fitting it is.

Pure gold. Sadly, a good mate of mine is very, very, very closely connected with CNN so I can't sing the shows praises too loudly.

Yeah, that's sooooo true about Fox News... As for CNN, it's about time somebody showed them that life can be lighthearted... what a bunch of bores....

Here's a beauty from the paper:

"Church leaders stand behind Pell: 'It's much safer back here.'"

And this one, terrible as it is:
"ETHNIC GANG RAPE OUTRAGE: Public demands return to good 'ol Aussie rape."

Definitely a bunch of guys and gals not afraid to trivalise the serious issues!

I just watched this show for the first time tonight and I loved it. The piece on workers getting addicted to wages and neglecting the casino was hilarious.

"Luxury items like food for their kids"

It's a delightful little romp that helps put the corruption of the media in focus.

I wonder how long it'll be till Channel Ten buys the show and makes it unfunny.

It was pretty good. Thoroughly enjoyable. But what was the tag to the Elijiah Wood scroll joke? I didn't see if it continued after the ad break. I think it went, "Elijiah Wood enjoys his roll as Frodo so much that..."

    Bugger!

It really is a show you have to tape cause you get more jokes than you can handle. Good idea.

"No pressure on you HSC kids either, I mean, you wouldn't want to end up like these people, would you?" //Cut to slides of Sara-Marie, Anthony Mundine etc.

But yeah, that Hussien gag... wooh...

"CNNNN: Guaranteed twice as true as regular news."

And I love "A Chaser Affair," where every story is some combination of shoddy builders, lebanese gangs and fat kids. It has me in stitches every time.

EDIT: Speaking of Backberner: Vote 1 Dexter Pinion! :D

I was taping it last night, so I got all of the HSC flash cards like:

    Computer Studies
Answer: Switch it off, then switch it on again.

The Elijah Wood joke was "Elijah Wood enjoyed playing Frodo so much he now can't kick the Hobbit "

And the classic moment last night...

"... take Simon Crean out the back and beat the living ... that concludes tonight's broadcast of CNNNN."
