Census Coke or Pepsi

Coke has the sharper flavor

 

Coke in every possible way.

Except when I drink Mtn. Dew.

 

I'm going really obscure/old school here.





If you've never seen this, the story behind Like Cola is that back in the 80's, the 7 Up Company decided to create a dark color cola to compete with Pepsi and Coke. This was the result. I'm 40 years old and I haven't seen one of those cans since around 1986. I don't quite remember what it tasted like, something like a mix between Pepsi and Dr. Pepper, if that makes sense.

 

I am a child of the 80s and I don't remember that at all.

But this, combined with the brand new Nutrasweet at the time, this was the worst:



Me and my friends would drink these by the six pack during the summertime when we were out skateboarding. Had the worst aftertaste.

 

Wasn't there a crystal coke in the mid-90's?

 

I do know Pepsi had one. Many had clear colas for a while.

 

That was Pepsi... I don't think Coke ever made one.

 

The exact same drink, only with no added food coloring! How did such a novel idea not catch on?

It's silly but it seems strange to me to drink a cola that is clear. I like my colas dark

 

That just looks gross.

 

What? The clear liquid? I don't see what's so gross looking about that. The taste, on the other hand... off-putting.

 

Yeah the clear liquid just looks unsettling to me for some reason.

 

This stuff was pure nastiness.

 

So do you just, like, recoil in horror from club soda?

 

any of you guys remember new york seltzer? i just remembered they made a clear cola and now i'm having a nostalgia seizure.

 

I remember new york seltzer. It was weirdly salty.

 

Actually, I think any fizzy water/club soda is gross....so yeah? I'm weird that way.

 

I'm not sure because I've only seen photographs, but Crystal Pepsi doesn't look quite like club soda. It looks as though all the sugar makes it murky. Or maybe I'm just influenced by a video I saw of the Cinema Snob guy drinking a 20-year-old bottle of the stuff. The sugar had turned it yellow.

 

you literally just posted in another thread that you were drinking a mojito.

 

Seen that same video - I think part of the issue there was the lack of preservatives, IIRC.

 

It just looked like 7-up... wasn't murky, really.

 

I meant the taste. Not a fan of fizzy water. Plus mojito's have crushed mint in them...and I have no idea what point I'm trying to make. **** it.
