Personally, I've been concerned about it ever since Trevorrow was announced!

That said, both Abrams and Edwards (especially the latter) hit home runs, despite my initial skepticism, so here's to hoping Old Colin will surprise me.

Yes, though those rumors were about filming in Mexico, not New Mexico.

At least those can be entertaining. This is just a waste of time. Let's refrain from posting this garbage here, please.

Damn, I was just about to post this. I have a test in forty minutes that I'm cramming for so I can't watch this right now, but I'm curious to know what Gigoran Monk thinks, particularly in regards to the cinematography.

I got around to watching the trailer. There is a huge tonal shift about halfway through, and I'm interested to see if the film itself earns that shift and if the whole thing comes together. I'm really pulling for Trevorrow on IX; it'd be nice if the film comes out and everyone is like, "We were wrong about this guy, he did good."

I like how there's two things that are in nearly every Star Wars article on every website: casual prequel bashing and, "Maybe if we ask for the Obi-Wan movie enough times it'll actually happen."

Who knows maybe Star Wars will turn out to be a lot of iffy directors lucky charm

TFA is JJ's best work despite the low bar

    Gareth made a masterpiece IMHO

Plus the directors still have oversight from the big bosses and story group so they can't go to crazy[/quote]

From a cinematographic perspective, it seems to be a pretty significant improvement from JW. That said, there's still that sort of artificially-lit quality, even in some of the outdoor scenes (day and night), including what seems to be a slight "bloom" filter that you see often in blockbuster films, and which renders everything just slightly unreal. Sort of a thin coating of candy. But not consistently. There's much more naturalism in it than I saw in JW, and overall, it raises my hopes for him.

Also, as Jid123Sheeve said, hopefully these directors are all "elevated" by the Star Wars universe. That was certainly the case with both Abrams and Edwards, IMO, and I'm hoping it's the case with Trevorrow. In any event, I'm pulling for him to succeed. And to prove my skepticism wrong.

If I heard right, he has a "draft" at this point? I thought they were going to be filming soon?

I guess this movie IS more likely to be out December 2019 rather than May 2019.

but you still have the Avatar 2 problem and Disney already has a movie on December 20 2019 "untitled live action fairy tale movie".

As with all of the other directors (Abrams, Edwards, Johnson, Lord and Miller), I like but don't love Trevorrow, but what makes me feel ok about him is that he's got a strong core group of characters to work with, unlike Jurassic World, for example.

Book of Henry looks terrible. Terrible. My brain was melting just watching that trailer.

Nah, Avatar 2 won't come out then and the Disney thing is a place saver.

It makes more sense if you realize it's a remake of The Phantom Menace and the little kid is Anakin.

Fingers crossed this guy knows his stuff with IX. JW was far from being good enough to justify him being chosen for the job.

It made lots of money. In Hollywood, that means it's good.

I also understand that he's very easy to work with and takes notes on board without fuss. That gets you far.
