Not my original idea but the rebel officer in charge of xwing fighters seeks to court martial Luke Skywalker after he went off on his own with a very expensive fighter after the Battle of Hoth.

So at some point in the past the Sith ruled the galaxy (as they did in Episode 4-6) and that rule was taken from them (presumably by the Jedi). Sounds like the OT plot but I'd love to see how the Sith were defeated before.

 

Droids are all fitted with restraining bolts and/or have their memory wiped regularly.

How about a series showing a secret society of droids passing undetected through the galaxy while trying to keep their existence a secret?

Pitch: A film set before ANH and would follow Yoda and Qui-Gonn training Obi-Wan on how to return from the netherworld of the Force. In between trainings, perhaps Obi-Wan has encounters with krayt dragons and tusken raiders.
